Logo designer Lauren Anderson will be on hand at 3:15 when the logo is introduced. • By-Laws Update: A few board members brought suggestions for the By-Laws. These changes will be compiled and incor- porated into the By-Laws draft. There was discussion about keeping a three-ring binder at the desk with a copy of the By- Laws, Policies & Procedures and job de- scriptions for easy reference. • Annual Auction: It was agreed to hold a Silent Auction in the gallery this fall (tentative date of October 13). This event will coincide with the 50th Anniversary party. • Online Payments: We are currently working to set up online payments for classes and memberships with the hopes to make this available soon. • Membership Program: It was sug- gested that a critique night be scheduled for a program in April. Marilyn Dale is invited to host this popular event. • Volunteers Needed: No one has vol- unteered to serve on the 50th Anniver- sary Committee. BOARD NOTES • The Logo Introduction: the logo unveil-ing will be incorporated into the Fabulous Fakes opening reception on Sunday, Feb-ruary 19. Logo designer Lauren Anderson will be on hand at 3:15 when the logo is introduced.

• By-Laws Update: A few board members brought suggestions for the By-Laws. These changes will be compiled and incor-porated into the By-Laws draft. George Bruce’s paintings in abstract oil pas-tels have recently been accepted in the Proud Fox Gallery, 213 W. State Street, Geneva, Illinois. Marriott Hotels purchased four pieces of art-work from Valerie Lorimer for the new Na-perville Marriott. The pieces are due to be installed soon for the spring opening. She also has an exhibit at Whole Foods in Wheaton through mid-February. Valerie will also be exhibiting at Bacchus Greets the Arts at Gibby’s Wine Den in Geneva on February 24 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Thank you, Fabulous Fakers, for accepting the challenge to be inspired by a famous artist's style or particular piece. Our NFAC&G walls are now sporting the notable, creative fruits of your labor, and we look forward to many visitors. Please come see this show, and please, come see every NAL member exhibit: the variety and quality of talent are consistently impressive.

We hope you are considering entering a piece in this year's public art competition under the theme "Attachment." The deadline for submis-sion has been extended to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3.

Soon our Board Members at Large will be com-piling a slate of candidates for Board elections in May. On June 1, I will be leaving the NAL Board of Directors on which I have served for eight years, and my current position, Fine Arts Director (in charge of exhibits), will need to be filled. Entries for indoor and outdoor works will be accepted. Each original design must be a minimum of 2 feet in any direction; only 18” in any direction for high school students. Works will be juried and judged with prize money awarded to the top established art-ists, and scholarships awarded to the most outstanding college and high school student artists. Last year, more than $4,000 in prizes and scholarships were awarded.

Dignitaries from surrounding DuPage com-munities and businesses will be invited to attend the event and may consider the art for purchase.

A special invitation to all artists who were born, reside, work, or go to school in DuPage County Artists with ties to DuPage County are invited to participate in the fourth annual DuPage Invita-tional Sculpture & 3-D Art Show.

This event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sat., May 12th, in the breathtaking outdoor setting of Lilacia Park during Lombard’s Annual Lilac Time Celebration. Lilacia Park is located at 227 W. Parkside Ave. in Lombard, near Main Street and directly across from the Metra Station. Promotion for the event will be included in the Lilac Time Celebration brochures.

The show is open to artists who were born, re-side, work, or go to school in DuPage County, and who practice in the arts of indoor/outdoor sculpture and multidimensional works. Show organizers invite not only established area artists, but also outstanding emerging student artists from county area high schools and colleges, as well. Special participation fees are in place for student artists under age 25.
