Grateful for UncertaintyYet [Abraham] did not waver through unbelief
regarding the promise of God, but was
strengthened in his faith and gave glory to
God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do
what he had promised.
Romans 4:20-21NIV
When we hear ofchange, were often warmed bygood feelings and we feel positive about things.
But the idea ofuncertainty carries a sense ofunwanted, chilling risk. Risk is something we
try to avoid, to plan out of our lives. Yet Idhave to say thats one of the richest aspects of
living in Cambodia - the uncontrollability of the
whole endeavor. Hudson Taylor wrote, Unlessthere is an element of risk in our exploits for
God, theres no need for faith. Risk goes hand-
in-hand with faith-building because its in therisk - when were completely unable to affect or
control our futures - that God steps in and shows
us His faithfulness and love. Sometimes its inways that we could expect, within the realm of
the possibility. But sometimes were completely
surprised by His graciousness to us: a faith-boosting experience!
As we transition from Cambodia back to the US,
weve laid many plans. Some have gone asexpected, but some horribly uncertain. But I
can say that God has been more than faithful weve seen Him provide in extraordinary ways
for ministry needs here and our time back inCalifornia. We moved into a new student centerthis past week (no small miracle on several
levels!), have a car waiting for us in the US
(wow!), and got an unexpected tax refund whichreally helps us out (imagine that!)
There are still loose ends to tie up over the next
six weeks. Hospital, students, packing, and somegoodbyes to longtime friends who wont be
returning to Cambodia. The goodbyes are always
hardest. Our boys leave in mid-June and well follow the
first week of July. Thank you again for yourencouragement and prayers during this time. We
hope to be based in the San Jose area so look
forward to seeing many of you over the course ofthe year!

TCKs
Its the term to describe our children.
While in our case TCKs could mean
Three Charming Kids, its generallymeant to be Third Culture Kids. Kids
between cultures America and
Cambodia - not fully a part of either.TCKs are generally very adaptable,
accepting of others, and make friendsquickly. But the stresses of a life on
the go are a challenge to them as well.Thank you for your special prayers forBen, Jon & Kai as they transition back
to America.
