Two weeks ago was SASS recognition week. SASS stands for

SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION and SUPPORT STAFF. At NPS

we are making this week SASS recognition week. We have 12

support staff in our school. Some are the familiar faces you

see in the office every day; Mr Colin Burrell, Mrs Noelene

Hugo and Mrs Brooke Absolom. Others are staff who support

our students and teachers in the classroom; Mrs Lyn Seymour,

Mr Richard Gilbert, Mrs Jean Galluzzo, Mrs Simone Ingram,

Ms BJ Hickson, Mrs Cindy James, Mr Jayd Williams and Ms

Shara Freeman. We also have Mr Matthew Bolton our General

Assistant who looks after our grounds and maintenance. Every

day, in so many ways our valuable SASS staff support us in our

school. Without our SASS staff we would not be able to provide

the wonderful school that we have. If you see any of these

people this week, or any week, simply say THANK YOU. A

personal note from me to our SAS staff: I CAN NO OTHER

Class News - 5C Week 10, how amazing! What a busy term we have had. The students going to Borambola are getting very excited. We head off in the morning at 9.15am. I am also looking forward to this. It is such a great experience for the children who attend. Last week’s merit winners were Siara Moore, Noah Birch, Shauna McHale-O’Keefe and Aaliyah Hawkins. Well done to all these students. As this is the last week of term, I would like to wish all the students and their families a safe and restful holiday. I look forward to seeing everyone after the holidays ready for another busy term.

Girls’ Softball Yesterday the girls Narrandera Public School softball team travelled to Wagga to play Sturt Public School in the Girl’s Riverina softball final. Thirteen excited girls set off in the bus accompanied by 4 parents. Although easily beaten 25 – 1, the score line did not quite represent the quality of the match. The opposition were a well drilled team with many skilled players. Our girls were slightly overawed by the situation but showed glimpses of what they are capable of. Congratulations to the girls on making the Riverina final and thank you for your commitment to the team. We are very proud of you.

Class News - 1T Concert Cats 1T has had a fantastic third term, with so much great learning and lots of extra activities keeping us busy! We had a lot of fun preparing for the School Concert and I was so proud of our wonderful performance on the night. Thanks to all the families and friends who came out to watch! We have been learning all about transport this term and the students designed and built their own models of different forms of transport, which were entered into the Narrandera Show. The creativity and skills shown by the students were very impressive and the final results looked amazing! All students had a great time participating in the Jump Rope for Heart Day on Friday, 12

th September. Well done to those students who

raised some money for a worthy cause. This final week of term is another busy one, with the Infants Excursion to Wagga Botanical Gardens on Tuesday and a class farewell party for Mrs Heath and Mrs Kroek on Wednesday before they head off on maternity leave next term. Thank you for all your support during the past term, especially as I stepped in as the new class teacher. Many of these wonderful events could not have happened without your support and involvement. I wish you and your families a safe and relaxing holiday and look forward to seeing you in Term 4!

Jump Rope for Heart and right Transport Model building

Class News - KL News Welcome to our final instalment of KL News for term three. This term has been one of marked improvement for all students as they continue to improve their knowledge in all areas. The students’ reading and writing skills have been developing beautifully due to the huge efforts that the students have been putting in during our L3 sessions. Our TEN programme has allowed the students to continually improve their knowledge of arithmetical strategies and they have been applying these beautifully in our daily maths programme. In Creative and Performing Arts we have been learning about portraits and dance. The students have created some beautiful self-portraits that enable the audience to learn about who the artist is and what they like. Our ‘Shimmy Shake’ item at the school concert was a huge hit with the crowd and was the result of hours of practice with KH! Science and Technology was a unit called ‘Living and Non-Living Things’ and the students have developed their knowledge of what plants and animals need to survive. We have been doing a lot of work in the computer room as we continue to familiarise ourselves with the equipment and begin to use some of the applications. Human Society and Its Environment has been all about getting to know our local environment. From looking at their favourite places at home and school to learning about recycling, the students now have an in-depth knowledge of what it is that makes their home town special and how they can keep it that way. Personal Development/Health has seen a continued focus on a variety of ‘Positive Behaviour for Learning’ strategies and exploring ways to stay safe, especially when travelling. Physical Education activities have been based around the fundamental skills with sport each week giving the students a chance to practise and refine these skills in a variety of games. As you can see, it has been a huge term. I look forward to seeing the students back in term four all rested and ready to go again. Thank you for your ongoing support of your child’s learning.

Handball Competition Monday, 15

th of September was a huge day for many students in the school as the finals of the handball competition were held. 48

students in total qualified for the finals with competitions being split into K-2 and 3-6 categories. The aim of the event was fun and sportsmanship and there was an abundance of it to be seen. It was particularly pleasing to see the older students in each category encouraging the younger ones. The K-2 final was contested by year two students Hunter Robertson and Mackenzie Brooker. In a see-sawing affair it was Hunter Robertson who eventually broke free to win 5-3. The 3-6 final was between Dayne Essam (year four) and Noah Watson (year five). This contest saw Dayne jump out of the gates quickly and lead 2-0 only for Noah to claw his way back to eventually win 5-3. The standard of handball was fantastic right across the competition and congratulations goes to all involved.
