This week we farewell Mrs. Fiona Chant who has been working for our school as our relieving School Administration Manager (SAM). On behalf of the school community I would like to extend a sincere thank you to Fiona for her professional diligence, time, effort and care for students and her ongoing valuable contributions to our team here at NPS. The Department of Education’s merit selection process has been completed to fill the vacant SAM position and we can now announce that Mrs. Desiree Jessett will begin in this position at NPS on Monday 14th August. Mr Colin Burrell will relieve as SAM for 2 weeks until Desiree can start her work with us. We look forward to welcoming Desiree to NPS. Due to numerous changes and progressions at NPS since our 2015-17 School Plan was developed in 2014, staff members have been reflecting on, and reviewing, this plan and have up-dated the plan for 2017. We have also begun evaluations of aspects of this plan and are beginning to draft ideas for the 2018-20 School Plan. YOU ARE ALL INVITED TO ATTEND ONE OF OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY INFORMATION MEETINGS THAT WILL BE HELD IN THE SCHOOL LIBRARY ON THE FOLLOWING DAYS AND TIMES: Session 1 on Tuesday 1st August at 12:15 until 1:15 p.m. Session 2 (repeat of session 1) on Tuesday 1st August at 6 until 7 p.m. These sessions will be a terrific chance for us to have a look at the key school plan processes at NPS on behalf of the children and will also be the beginning of our discussions to prepare for our next 3-year plan in support of children’s learning and wellbeing. We hope that you can come along to one of these sessions. If you can’t make a session, please contact the
school via the school’s email or call us to have a chat about your ideas for consideration. We will keep you all up-to-date about ways in which everyone can contribute to our school evaluation and planning processes. What an exciting time in education as we continue our partnerships with families and the wider community and combine our efforts to work alongside children to optimise their educational opportunities. And another exciting time ….. we have a growing list of children beginning Kindergarten in 2018 who will be coming along to our ‘Little Learners’ program starting on Monday, 31st July. If you have a child starting school next year, or you know of others, please don’t miss out on this wonderful program for all children in Narrandera starting Kinder next year. It will be loads of fun, extremely well organised, focused on quality early learning activities, is free and, is being coordinated by highly experienced staff. Mrs. Judy Farrell, our coordinating teacher, would welcome all contacts and enquiries about our new look ‘Little Learners’ activities --- we hope that no child in Narrandera misses out on this opportunity. We hope to see many of our newsletter readers at next week’s school athletics carnival being held on Wednesday, 2nd August. The children love to see you all at these special events and it’s the best fun to be able to cheer on the children and to encourage best efforts throughout the day. See you there!
Have a most enjoyable week as we launch into
Education Week that starts on Monday 31st July.
By the end of this week we will send you all a
special note about Education Week activities.

NAPLAN Online School Readiness Test To prepare for the move to online testing, NSW schools will participate in an online practice run,
known as the NAPLAN Online School Readiness Test.
The readiness test is an assessment of a school’s technical readiness to administer NAPLAN
Online. It is an opportunity for schools to become familiar with the NAPLAN Online test platform
and to identify any technical issues they may have.
The test will be for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 and will comprise two one-hour tests. Schools
will be each allocated an entire week between Monday 14 August and Friday 22 September
to schedule their tests.
The readiness test is an opportunity to experience the online environment and the different
question types that can be used in online testing. It is not a test of skills and knowledge.
On Thursday, Term 2 Week 10, 10 of our
fellow students who are in the NPS softball
team went to Wagga Wagga to tryout for a
spot in the Riverina Softball team. The girls
did some base running warm ups, throwing
and catching the balls and some base sliding.
The boys did some throwing and catching,
base running, some bunting, and also played
a quick game. After all the warm ups they
played a game for possibles and probables.
The people who made it into the Riverina
team were Jahrel Tereva, Harvey Odgers,
Mia Buchanan and Ainsley Maver.

Hello everyone!!! Welcome to Term 3!! We have heaps of exciting things
happening at the SaC Centre for this term. Tiny Tots Playgroup- Our supported playgroup runs 3 days a week Mondays,
Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9.30-11.30am. This has reverted back to the
earlier time again. Each week we will have a new theme for craft and play and will read a story in line
with our theme. Please come in and say hello - playgroup is fun and a great way to meet new
people. There is no specific age groups for each day and no pressure to stay the
whole time, so spread the words to mums, dads, nans and aunties, that all are
welcome!! Look for us on Facebook as well for my updates. ‘Little Learners’- Transition to Kindergarten program (NPS)- Transition starts week
3 for our kids starting big school in 2018. We have been busily preparing exciting
activities to help settle our new Little Learners in, so they feel happy and
comfortable to start Kindergarten next year. Little Learners will pick up and drop
off everyone in Mr Beer’s bus each Monday and Tuesday and will run for both
terms. If you or someone else you know has a little person starting school next
year, please contact the school or myself at SaCC for further information or an
enrolment pack. Thursday 27th July 2017- SaCC will be hosting a lunch with Centacare and TAFE
NSW service providers, for families with children under 5. During this luncheon we
will answer any questions about services that the community would like or need.
We will have a face painter, balloons and a BBQ and launch the new program “Our
Story Time” and the Women’s group. “Our Story Time”- I am very excited to have Brenda from the TAFE at the SaC
Centre to run this fun and educational program. The program runs for 8 weeks
and focuses on reading to your children and the importance of early literacy skills.
Program starts 3rd August. Centacare Aboriginal Peer support group- starting Thursday 3rd August, Maree
from Centacare will be running a group after story time for Aboriginal families.
Maree will focus on empowering carers through a variety of ways that will lead to
strong parenting. I am at the Centre Mondays to Thursdays and would love any ideas from parents
and carers about what they would like to see delivered at the centre or just to call
in and say hi. The number for SaCC is 69593894 if you have any questions.
