Facts About Space!Definition of space: A continuous area or expanse that is free, available, or unoccupied.

FACT 1: According to...http://amazing-space.stsci.edu/ As far back as ancient Greece, humans have wondered whether other solar systems might exist in the universe. In about 300 BCE, Greek philosopher Epicurus, for example, proposed that the universe's boundaries were limitless and that space was full of other worlds. What?

This is just a warning, everything in this paragraph may not be

true. Nobody knows what someone else is thinking about, except mind readers. Though I may not know why all bullies really do bully,

I’ll put out an educated guess, bullies may be facing or have faced bullying before. It is possible that they let all that anger on someone

else because all their inner pressure is driving them insane. Also it

may be an act of revenge or anger towards a person. Here are some possible scenarios for both thoughts:

Scenario A- While you were bullied, a peer found it funny and cracks up at your helplessness. Out of anger, you decide to show them how it feels.

Scenario B- Your friend was bullied by someone you were able to

dominate so you decide to show them what it was like in your friend’s shoes.

Scenario C- There are problems at home or somewhere else. Driven by anger, you unleash your wrath on someone else.

Why?

A strong belief of mine of why people watch bullying take place but don’t do anything is because they are way too scared to do

anything. They may be scared of one of 2 of the following ways:

*They are afraid they will be bullied for turning them in or busting them in

front of everyone.

*They think that they might embarrass themselves in front of everyone.

Another point, some people don’t realize that bullying is taking

around even if it’s in plain sight. Dumb? No way! A lot of forms of bullying are disguised or fit in at random or unexpected times. But

just remember, it won’t hurt you to report any sightings of

bullying, as long as it’s in a safe time or place How?

A great way to deal with bullying is to read an article like this

one! Hey, it’s true, reading articles and books could give you a lot of

The Animal of the Month!

Hi narwhal students!

The Newspaper Club has decided to start an animal of the month! And our first animal is….

A NARWHAL!

Here are some facts about “the unicorn of the sea”:

~their scientific name is the Monodon Monoceros.

~the narwhal's diet includes squid, fish, and shrimp.

~the estimated narwhal population is from 45,000 to 50,000 individuals.

~narwhals are mostly found in the Atlantic and Russian waters of the Arctic.

~the narwhal tusk is actually a tooth that grows from the upper jaw of the narwhals.

~they are one of the rarest whales in the world.

~their regular life span is fifty years.

Ms. Allison Hymas

Did you know that an actual author came to visit Gold E team? Well, she did and her name is Ms. Allison Hymas.

She gave the students a few tips and tricks on future writing such as, revise, revise, revise, revising is

important. If we didn't have revising, the world would talk a whole bunch ofiuhrevkberkvhfbskhvs. She also read them a little bit about her book called.. Under Locker and Key

(releasing in spring.)

information! But let’s start talking about how to deal

with a situation like this one. Everyday, you dread going to school because of this guy

or girl who slams you against the lockers in the hallway

before you go to first period. Ever since, you’ve been

going through a different hallway but he/she finds you

there too.

To deal with that you could get a group of friends to surround you before first period everyday. Seeing

your friends around you to protect you, he/she

might take it down a bit or just totally stop. Also it’s

a good idea to tell a trusted adult like your mom,

dad, counselor or guardian. I know you must be tired of that phrase but it really is a great idea.

Getting things out of your mouth will really help some people and might work for you too!

Thank you so much for reading this article! Just

remember to check out some of the other articles in all the newspaper issues and this issue too!

Now... Are you ready for a short story? A Long Journey Part 1 by: Aparna V.

Everywhere I looked I saw nothing but death. All the trees were burnt up, all of the lively animals

were gone except for Nala, my pet jaguar cub, the exotic flowers wilted and crippled. The wide

expanse of our home land was reduced to ashes. As I looked back at my once home, a tear escaped

my eye and trickled down my cheek. “Adsila, it is time to go,” my mother said, her hand as gentle as

a toucan feather on my shoulder.

As we walked on I remembered the terrible

event that had taken place yesterday. My people were peacefully going about their day when

suddenly we smelled smoke. Two seconds later the

smell got worse and we could already see the

flames licking away at our village. Everyone grabbed what they could and fled. We ran for what

seemed like hours until a light shower fell down on the plants, putting out the fire, but it was too late,

the last bit of my home was gone. The men went off to the camp to find some belongings that may

have survived. Only our underground food stores remained but those were too heavy to carry so we

packed enough for a three days journey and had to set off on our way to find our new home.

Stay tuned for Part 2, of A Long Journey! by: Aparna V.
