To: Review Board Committee From: Naseeb Bhangal, Assistant Resident Director for Residence Life Date: March 27, 2015 RE: Recommendation for Hector Solis-Ortiz Dear Review Board: What can I say about Hector? He is one of the most supportive professionals I have had the good fortune of working with during my first year in student affairs work at Loyola University Chicago. It is my pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Hector Solis-Ortiz for the Review Board. During my association with Hector, I have become familiar with his exceptional leadership abilities and have grown to see him as a well-rounded educator in our field: as an Assistant Resident Director, Leadership Programming Graduate Intern, Marking Communications Intern, Adult Admissions Advisor, and Public Relations Intern. Remarkably, he has been able to adapt and learn from previous roles to fill the job description and responsibilities of his current position as an Assistant Resident Director. During his time with the Department of Residence Life, Hector has supervised both De Nobli and Mertz halls, some of the most demanding first-year residence halls on campus. Hector has managed supervisees and advised his residents with care and respect throughout his assistantship. Hector has worked tirelessly in the Assistant Resident Director role, frequently going above and beyond to mentor first-year graduate assistants in the department. He has developed extensive knowledge and leadership experience in diverse settings, particularly higher education administration; and he is committed to developing relationships with both students and staff members in order to develop successful teams. In short, Hector is both scholarly and culturally entrenched, ambitious but not pretentious, self- deprecating yet confident, forthright but unassuming, delightfully irreverent yet appropriately respectfula complex and whole human being; a person who encompasses the Mission of Loyola University Chicago in all he strives to dopreparing students, peers, and colleagues to lead extraordinary lives. Hector will be an exceptional addition to the field of higher education. I am thrilled that Hector plans to remain in student affairs after graduation; without a doubt, he will be a cutting-edge leader and strong support system for future professionals in our field for many years to come. Hector has left an impression on his colleagues and cohort by presenting his most authentic self in his professional work and allowing others to do the same. I am honored to write about his character and accomplishments and hope the board will see him as the dynamic individual that he is. RE: Recommendation for Hector Solis-Ortiz

    Dear Review Board:

What can I say about Hector? He is one of the most supportive professionals I have had the good fortune

of working with during my first year in student affairs work at Loyola University Chicago. It is my

pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Hector Solis-Ortiz for the Review Board. During my

association with Hector, I have become familiar with his exceptional leadership abilities and have grown

to see him as a well-rounded educator in our field: as an Assistant Resident Director, Leadership

Programming Graduate Intern, Marking Communications Intern, Adult Admissions Advisor, and Public

Relations Intern. Remarkably, he has been able to adapt and learn from previous roles to fill the job

description and responsibilities of his current position as an Assistant Resident Director.

During his time with the Department of Residence Life, Hector has supervised both De Nobli and Mertz

halls, some of the most demanding first-year residence halls on campus. Hector has managed

supervisees and advised his residents with care and respect throughout his assistantship. Hector has

worked tirelessly in the Assistant Resident Director role, frequently going above and beyond to mentor

first-year graduate assistants in the department. He has developed extensive knowledge and leadership

experience in diverse settings, particularly higher education administration; and he is committed to

developing relationships with both students and staff members in order to develop successful teams.

In short, Hector is both scholarly and culturally entrenched, ambitious but not pretentious, self-

deprecating yet confident, forthright but unassuming, delightfully irreverent yet appropriately

respectfula complex and whole human being; a person who encompasses the Mission of Loyola University Chicago in all he strives to dopreparing students, peers, and colleagues to lead extraordinary lives. Hector will be an exceptional addition to the field of higher education.

I am thrilled that Hector plans to remain in student affairs after graduation; without a doubt, he will be a

cutting-edge leader and strong support system for future professionals in our field for many years to

come. Hector has left an impression on his colleagues and cohort by presenting his most authentic self in

his professional work and allowing others to do the same. I am honored to write about his character and

accomplishments and hope the board will see him as the dynamic individual that he is.

    Sincerely,

    Naseeb Bhangal
