Real Estate Prices Reboundby news aggregator

HONG KONGReal estate prices have rebounded and are on their way up, way up, reports CNN's Richard Quest as well as other business news outlets such as MSNBC, FOX Business, Bloomberg, and Nightly Business Report.Apparently, in Hong Kong, the global recession is no more, and thus prices on Main Street, the first indicator of any real economic progress, have begun to rise. The rise in values includes a luxury high rise apartment (no pun intended) with a letting value of $18K USD a month. This is good news, for the rich, of course, but also for the poor, since rising real estate values mean that jobs will come back (more janitors, waste disposal crews, foodservice staff, and administrative personnel needed to maintain the apartments and the real estate investment trusts), which means the poor will once again be able to pull themselves out of poverty, and public utilites will receive their fair share of the tax income. If this rise in values were to continue and expand to the rest of the world, we should be out of this recession in NO TIME!Just don't take my word for it... I'm a college student writing a newspaper, not the LSE!

TECHNO MUSIC REVIVAL UNDERWAYby Nathan Guannan Zhang

DETROITRecently, a former professor and good friend of mine exchanged greetings and had a short discussion on electronic music with me while I was waiting for a communications homework lab to start at Walsh College, where I am studying for my BBA in management. He told me that his acquaintance Dave Barry, one of the founders of Detroit's techno scene, is bringing about a revival of the techno movement in Detroit, hopefully to retake the genre from the hands of perverts and pedophiles.Mr. Barry is not the only one, but he is one of the leaders of the revival movement.I am a fond listener of NPR and the Detroit Public Radio. One Thursday afternoon last week, I heard a clip about a group of Detroitraised musicians and artist who are reviving the techno movement. They chose to come back to the Detroit area (from elsewhere) because of the low property values (a sign of our hurting times). They also chose to make their mark here with the mature, native electronic music scene. This is good news for Detroit, as well as the rest of Michigan (like where I live, in Troy, in the Metro of Detroit). This is also good news for the world. If we can be more musically attuned to each other, we can have more inner peace, and thus deeper respect for all precious life. We will also have less crime. We may even one day see a world without war, without hate, and without poverty...

Book Review: The One Minute Managerby Nathan Guannan Zhang

The One Minute Manager, by Ken Blanchard and his coauthor whose name I can't summon at this moment, is an excellent book, not only for those who want to be managers, but also for those who write about them, as for those who want to understand their supervisor/manager, and for those whose parents are managers.

The One Minute Manager talks about a young man who searches the world trying to find the optimal management style. He goes to Asia, Africa, Europa, and America, but at long last, he discovers a manager who takes only one minute each to do three things: (1) praise the employee, (2) tell the employee what he did that was not right, and (3) encourage the employee to do better. If only all managers were like this... Even if you are not, you should read the book and take from it what you can.

The One Minute Manager deserves an A+ as well as a N8R8 (Nathan's Ratings) of 122, 1,because it can be read by anyone, including kids; 2, because its subject matter is in the business category (thus only a teenager or older would need to deal with it); and another 2, because it lacks any profanities but has (I believe) at least one euphemism (such as "in Sam's Hill" etc).

The One Minute Manager, by Ken Blanchard, deserves FIVE STARS!
