OurVisionary Founder

Fr. C. Rodrigues

my country, my peoplethat's all it matters“ “

Rev. Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues was a rare v i s ionar y and f reedom f ighter possessed with unbounded energy and resoluteness of purpose. Under the inspiration of this charismatic founder, the Agnel Fathers (the trustees of St. Francis Xavier Pilar) realized that their contribution to the process of nation building would be through the spread of facilities for technical education.

Though Fr. Rodrigues did not live long enough to see his dream come true in the form of College of Engineering at Bandra, the clearance for this college had just been obtained days before his sudden demise in 1984. The college today proudly bears his name as a fitting tribute to his impassioned faith in highly qualified and fully trained engineers and technicians in the service of the nation. The visionary principles on which the institution was founded have been nurtured and fostered in succeeding years and continue to guide the functioning of the college even today.

Alumni Bytes

”The nurturing environment, experiential learning and the greatest friendships I received from Fr CRCE completely changed the trajectory of my life. In my final years we got our hands dirty in building the first SAE BAJA ATV in college history. The knowledge and values I gained from this experience are significantly responsible for shaping my career.

Producon 2012Bhishman Desai,TESLA, USA

”Four year at Frcrce was one of the best experiences. The faculty members and staff at the college were always very supportive and encouraged us to think differently. Along with excellent academic guidance, the ecosystem at college promoted students to participate in various national & international competitions. Technical festival Crescendo & Cultural festival Euphoria helped us broaden our horizon of thoughts and gave us chance to interact with students from other colleges. Training & placement cell conducted several workshops and industry connect sessions which made our journey from student to professional very swift.

”Fr. CRCE remains the most important milestone in my academic journey. It played a significant role in defining my career, as well my growth as an individual. I remember my earlier days, fresh out of junior college, without any detailed path that I landed up here. It was this college, classmates – some who became friends and some are extended family, teachers, the leadership team and the prestigious alumni, who have helped me charter the way forward. The fact that I have been a part of Alumni Committee right since 2011, shows how valuable this connect has been for me. I wish the current and the future batch, would grow on this glory and take it further heights! Best of luck – onwards and upwards.

”Fr CRCE didn't just offer me sound engineering training, but also a platform to hone my talents, explore new avenues and meet amazing people. The experiences in the debate society, various councils and NSS enabled me to build my professional & business communication skills. Also the college provided me with many opportunities to learn new sports and continue my love for performing arts. Rolling out the FragMag edition-2012 was much more than just a literary experience for me. The professors did more than just teaching, they were always there to mentor and coach us. And I can never forget Late Fr. Diniz and Fr. Victor for always guiding us students to be better persons. To sum it all up, I received more than I wished for from my four years at Fr CRCE.

”“I would rate my years at Fr. CRCE (I belong to the 1985-1989 B.E. batch) as probably one of the best periods of my life. The engineering college was still in its nascent stage when I joined; mine was just the second batch for the B.E. course. The infrastructure was still developing, but the faculty was excellent, and the ambience and team spirit amazing. Participating in curricular and co-curricular activities, organising events, being a member of different committees, volunteering at the college fest, made college life not only highly enjoyable, but also helped shape my values and attitudes, especially teamwork. I can truly say that my experience at Fr. CRCE helped mould me into the person I am today. It has helped me stay grounded, motivated me to push myself to excel, and to encourage others to do the same, and has also motivated me to give back to society. My grateful thanks to this wonderful institution for all that I gained from it. May you continue to guide and inspire generations to come!”

”CRCE is one of the best colleges Mumbai University has to offer. It has a strong curriculum and some great professors like Dr. Prabhu, whose classes are a delight to be a part of. There are also a variety of clubs and committees available for students to develop an all round personality. As a member of the CSI Council, I got the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students on activities outside of academia as well that are essential to overall development. There are cultural and sports events as well for students to be a part of. Overall, CRCE is a great stage for students to take initiatives and explore the depths of their amazing potential.

”FR.CRCE truly lives up to it's motto of Moulding engineers who can build the nation. The college not only has good teaching but also provides lot of exposure to practical learning beyond classrooms. Being in Team Abadha CRCE, which is one of the many teams supported by the college helped me develop not only my technical but also managerial and people skills. Overall it is a great place to be in and provides a good value-added development platform.

A Brief History

Fr. Agnel Ashram was founded on June 9, 1957 in Bandra, Mumbai on a piece of land known as “Land’s End” with the aim of fostering, through Educaonal and Charitable Instuons, love and understanding amongst the people of various communies of India and contribung towards India’s development and self-reliance. It was named aer the Ven. Fr. Agnelo D’Souza, a Goan Priest who died in Odour of Sancty in 1927.

Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering (CRCE) was established in 1984 as part of Fr. Agnel Technical Complex at Bandra, Mumbai by the Society of St. Xavier Pilar, a public and charitable trust.

The College of Engineering is named aer one of its founding father, Rev. Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues who was a rare visionary and freedom fighter possessed with unbounded energy and resoluteness of purpose. Under the inspiraon of this charismac founder, the Agnel Fathers (the trustees of St. Francis Xavier Pilar) realized that their contribuon to the process of naon building would be through the spread of facilies for technical educaon and accordingly acquired experience in providing technical educaon facilies through the establishment of Technical Educaonal complexes in different part of country - Bandra (Mumbai), Vashi (Navi Mimbai), Verna (Goa), New Delhi, Noida, Pune, and Ambarnath (Thane). Each unit imparts technical educaon at various levels - skilled trades, technicians, and engineers.

Fr. Agnel Ashram at Bandra, Mumbai, started with Fr. Agnel BalBhavan, an Orphanage and a Technical School in Carpentry in 1957. It has today grown into a full-fledge Technical Educaon Complex.

Though Fr. Rodrigues did not live long enough to see his dream come true in the form of College of Engineering at Bandra, the clearance for this college had just been obtained days before his sudden demise in 1984. The college today proudly bears his name as a fing tribute to his impassioned faith in highly qualified and fully trained engineers and technicians in the service of the naon. The visionary principles on which the instuon was founded have been nurtured and fostered in succeeding years and connue to guide the funconing of the college even today.

Fr. CRCE, came into existence with only one course in Producon Engineering with and intake capacity of 60 students. As on today, the Instute offers four Undergraduate Programmes, and two Post-graduate Programmes and two Ph.D. Programmes with a total strength of over 1200 students.

The Best Practices we follow at Fr.CRCE...Addional support to the students on both academic as well as personal levels through class teachers, mentors and a professional counsellor. Also

a separate Women’s Development cell to promote well beings of girl students and ladies staff of the Instute.

Scope of educaon extended beyond the syllabus in tune with the presentindustrial requirements and currents research interests.

Academic component complemented by social touch.

A Completely transparent, honest and open door policy followed by theManagement and the Staff.

Maximum Emphasis on inculcang values, culture and posive atude, augmented with good academics and all round growth.

Extensive use of e-administraon for various acvies such as library, office student records management, on-line feed back, etc.
