(NCC) Responsibility & Qualification Summary For Teacher’s Assistant NON—EXEMPT SUMMARY: To respond to directions of the teacher and participate in the planning and implementation of classroom activities and individualized education plans (IEP’s). Responsible to provide supervision and protective oversight of assigned individuals throughout scheduled shift assignment to ensure their safety and well-being. Responsible to maintain ongoing knowledge and understanding of established levels of protective oversight and supervision requirements under the individual’s education plan REPORTS TO: Principal and/or Classroom Special Education Teacher ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned. Provides supervision and protective oversight of assigned individuals throughout scheduled shift assignment to ensure their safety and well-being. Maintains ongoing knowledge and understanding of established levels of protective oversight and supervision requirements under the Individuals Education Plan Implements Individual Education Plan through direct instruction and guidance from classroom teacher Implements behavior programs and procedures for each student as directed. Assists teacher in maintaining appropriate cleanliness of room. Adheres to program policies and procedures including Universal Precautions. Attends and participate in staff development and training activities. Serves as Job Coach when necessary. Participates in scheduled bus duty. Attends and actively participate in team and staff meetings. Under direct supervision of classroom teacher Completes required documentation for student documentation to include dedicated aide logs Remain within arms length of student being served Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (Required to perform essential functions) The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to successfully perform this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: At least 48 college credits, successfully passed the para-professional exam, or an A.A degree is required, in addition to at least six months of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities to include intellectual disability, autism, or seriously emotionally disabled populations or related field. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written communication form information to internal/external vendors/individuals, staff and management, and maintain professional relationships. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, business correspondence, and memorandums. Ability to respond to routine inquiries or concerns from client and supervisory personnel, data taking, reports and other materials that are pertinent to job position.

with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

IV. Please check the degree of work this position requires and individual to perform. Volume II of the Occupational Titles, Pages 654-655 published by the U.S. Department of Labor (3rd. ed. 1965) classifies of work in terms of strength required. Sedentary Work: Lifting 10 lbs. maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets,

ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.

Light Work: Lifting 20lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/ or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Even thought the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job is in this category when it involves sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls, or when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

Medium Work: Lifting 50lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Heavy Work: Lifting 100lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Very Heavy Work: Lifting objects in excess of 100lbs.with frequent lifting and or carrying of objects weighing 50

lbs. or more.
