Condition Monitoring Society of India (CMSI) was established in the year 2003 with an intention to promote and emphasize the impor-tance of condition monitoring in industrial main-tenance. The Society intends to disseminate the latest trends in Condition Monitoring to the pro-fessionals/practicing engineers/ plant engi-neers by way of conducting conferences and workshops from time to time. The society also intends to be a common platform for condition monitoring professionals to share their experi-ences and expertise. The society publishes a news letter ‘MONITOR’ to keep the members abreast of the developments in the field. The society has grown rapidly by setting up local chapters of the society at different places all over India.

In its effort to fulfill the objectives of the society, CMSI conducted various conferences and courses during the past few years such as; 2-day National Conference (NCCM-2006) during Dec. 15-16, 2006, 4-day short term course on Condition Based Maintenance (CBM-07) during Nov. 19-22, 2007, 2-day National Conference on Condition Monitoring (NCCM-2009) during Dec. 4-5, 2009 and 2-day International Conference on Condition Monitoring (ICCM-2011) during Feb. 24-25, 2011. All these programs were very well attended and ap-preciated. GITAM University and CMSI jointly organ-ized a 5-day course, sponsored by AICTE-ISTE during Mar. 16-20, 2009. Apart from this, a number of workshops and annual meets were organized by the society and its local chapters. Last year the NCCM 2012 was organized at Pune during Jun. 15-16, 2012. Recently, on Mar 14, 2013, first student chapter of society was launched.

About Conditioning Monitoring Society of India

About the Conference As a part of CMSI’s endeavor to bring out the growing importance and re-cent trends in condition monitoring, a two day National Conference on Condition Monitoring (NCCM-2013) is being organ-ized in association with Gas Turbine Re-search Establishment, Bangalore during Oct. 4-5, 2013 with an emphasis on high speed turbomachinery application. It is expected that a significant number ex-perts/practicing engineers from various organizations, institutes and industries will participate in this conference. The conference provides a com-mon platform for interaction on the state of the art technology on condition monitor-ing strategies. It provides an opportunity to deliberate on latest trends in the field of condition monitoring. This would im-mensely benefit the maintenance engi-neers, R&D professionals, academicians and students.

because of the export of software and software professionals to the entire world. Bangalore is now on everybody's tour itinerary while visiting India. Bangalore city is now the nerve centre of industrial activ-ity in the state with the presence of several Public Sector Under-takings. The Electronic City in Bommasandra and the Software Technology Park, called the IT Park, which has come up on the outskirts of the city, has earned the reputation of being the "Silicon Valley of India”. Many multinational and Indian compa-nies are represented here. Ranked among the 10 fastest growing cities in the world, Bangalore has many on-going and proposed projects in the industrial and Information Technology sectors. The city has slowly found a place in the country's history and off re-cently a place on the world map. Today Bangalore is India's fifth largest and the fastest growing city in Asia. In addition to the tag of “Silicon Valley”, it is also recog-nised as an ‘Aviation Capital of India’ as it houses premier aero space laboratories viz. DRDO, ISRO, NAL, and HAL. World recog-nized institutes like IISc, IIM, etc. are also located in this city. The city boasts itself in having large industrial houses that use exten-sively the Condition Monitoring tools. It is a pleasure to have this conference at this place that has multiple excellence.

Bangalore is unique in many ways. It has the most pleasant weather throughout the year which got itself the name "Pensioner's Paradise". It is the only cosmopolitan and multilingual city in the country which has welcomed everyone who wanted to make Banga-lore their home and this speaks of the hospitable nature of the Ban-galoreans. Bangalore which was a city known only within India a couple of decades ago has now found its place in the World Map

The Gas Turbine Research Establishment is one of the pioneering Research and Development laboratory of DRDO under Ministry of Defense, Government of India. The charter of the estab-lishment is to design and develop gas turbine engine for aero-space and marine applications. GTRE has setup state-of-art test facilities to characterize the components and also undertake full scale testing in normally aspirated and High pressure and Temperature condition. In addi-tion, GTRE is responsible for establishing the requisite testing and prototype manufacturing facility for components and full scale engine. The experience gained over the years has been recog-nized at National level and this has been extended to Air force, Navy and other National laboratories. The laboratory has been actively participating in the defect investigation studies and ex-tending support in health monitoring of the Naval and Aircraft engines. The laboratory has undertaken critical projects of Na-tional importance viz. The Kaveri engine for LCA, Marine Gas Tur-bine Engine, and the Small Turbo Fan Engine—STFE. The successful Flying Test Bed trials and High Altitude Testing of the Kaveri engine at Russia has given enough confi-dence to propel further and refine the system to meet the reliabil-ity and airworthiness requirements.
