SECONDO CIRCOLO DIDATTICO “SAN FRANCESCO D’ASSISI” SANTERAMO IN COLLE ITALY
It is celebrated in Italy on the second of June each year. The day commemorates the institutional referendum held by universal suff rage in 1946, when the Italian people were called to decide on the form of government after World War II and the fall of Fascism. With 12,717,923 votes for Republic and 10,719,284 for monarchy, the male descendants of the House of Savoy were sent into exile. A great military parade is held in central Rome, presided over by the President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano in his role as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. The Prime Minister, formally known as the President of the Council of Ministers, and other high offi cers of state also attend.
Today, we wave both the Italian flag the European flag, symbol between nations and the choice of cooperation between countries, in hope that there never will be wars anymore.
