Sanatan Dharma College, a name synonymous with quality education was established at Lahore

in 1916. The college owes its inception to the determined resolution and prescience of Pt Madan Mohan Malviya ji and the missionary zeal of Pt Deen Dayal ji. It is a matter of honour and pride for us that Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya Ji has been conferred with prestigious Bharat Ratan. Philanthropists like Pt. Rishi Ram ji, Rai Bahadur Ram Saran Dass ji, Rai Bahadur Sohan Lal ji, Dewan Kishan Kishore ji, Seth JK Birla and Seth Ram Kishan Dalmia provided impetus and a futuristic outlook to this seat of higher education. Their efforts bore fruits and the college attained its zenith of glory in a short time and was recognised as the pioneer centre of value based education in North India. After the partition of the country, Goswami Ganesh Dutt ji, Dewan Hari Krishan Dass ji and the members of the Managing Committee, both at Ambala and Delhi, made incessant efforts to reinstate the college at Ambala Cantt. Dr Rajender Prasad, the first President of India, laid the foundation stone of the college in 1951. Since then, the college has progressed tremendously and has been deemed as one of the best institutions in providing sound academic inputs blended with an all round personality development approach. The college has been bestowed with the status of “College with Potential for Excellence”.

No stone is left unturned in our efforts to make the students competent enough to face a professionally challenging world and grooming them for a better career. A number of alumni of the college hold enviable positions in prestigious organisations in India and abroad. At present there are 2855 students on the college rolls.

In our effort to make our students capable of facing the globally challenging scenario and simultaneously maintaining a delicate balance between academic excellence and moral perfection, we at Sanatan Dharma College realize that our task of providing education becomes all the more demanding. We, therefore, are in a never ending process of self up-gradation in the field of education by introducing innovative concepts, new job-oriented and vocational courses.

Under the valuable guidance of its diligent President Shri Brij Kishore Soni, General Secretary Dr R P Vij, and other esteemed members of the college managing committee, the institution is serving the society selflessly and with a noble cause.

Dr. Desh Bandhu, who got retired after a glorious span of long and dedicated service to this institution, has been inducted as the Vice President of the S D College Society.

Apart from imparting quality education, considerable emphasis is laid on extra-curricular activities so that the students should develop an all-round and holistic personality. It is a matter of great pride that along with academics the college has won laurels in extra-curricular activities as well. Keeping in mind the tradition of selfless service, the institution tries to imbibe moral values along with inculcating a sense of patriotism and self discipline through activities like NCC and NSS. It is a matter of honour that the college is served by highly qualified and talented faculty members. Currently 128 faculty members are contributing to the cause of education. Glorious highlights of the multi-dimensional achievements of the college are as follows:-

National Service Scheme (NSS)

National Service Scheme has been active in the college since 1973 and since then NSS is functioning as a regular feature in the domain of the college campus. The main objective of fthe scheme is to develop the personality of the students through community service by providing them diversified opportunities. Under the guidance of Dr. Sushil Goswami , Prof Neetu Bakshi and Prof, Babita Ramola the three NSS units comprising of 300 volunteers have done justice to the motto “Not Me , But You”. The NSS volunteers are also provided with an opportunity to participate in outdoor programmes by organising Special Seven Day- Night Camp. This year, the camp was organised in adopted village Boh in which volunteers tried to sensitize the villagers by performing street plays and processions on burning issues of the society. It is a matter of great pleasure that this year two NSS volunteers: Mr. Sachin (B.A.III) and Mr. Lokesh participated in Rajpath Parade New Delhi.
