• IWRM under arid/semi-arid conditions • Linking IWRM plans and water safety plans • IWRM in transboundary basins with a high conflict

potential

• Adaptation to climate change

Potential issues for the NPD in other EECCA countries

• Moldova (continuation)

• Armenia (continuation) • Ukraine (start in early 2008)

• The success of the EUWI-EECCA Component and of the NPD depends on a long-term commitment until 2015

• UNECE facilitation of NPD relies completely on extra-budgetary funds

• As a first step, resources were mobilized for an initial period of two years

• Parties to the Water Convention and other partners (e.g. EU Member States) should make sure that the needed resources are also made available in the long term

Lessons learned and recommendations
