The National Service Scheme is an Indian government sponsored public service programme

conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports of the Govt. of India. The scheme was

launched in Mahatma Gandhiji’s birth centenary year, 1969.This scheme aim to inculcate social

welfare in students and to provide service to society.

Our institution has scrupulously tried to implement all the programmes initiated by the University

and the goals set up by the government. We have encouraged students to participate in all the

activities of the scheme and have established a good rapport with the community. As the college

has shown keen interest in the implementing the scheme, the university has granted us to have 200

volunteers in our units. The National Service Scheme unit extends tremendous opportunity to the

student to hone their talents in number of fields especially community and national development.

The NSS was established in our college in the year 1995. Since 1995, 23 special camping

programmes were organized successfully in adopted villages (from 1995, 10 villages were

adopted). These residential camps are organized by keeping prime objects such as environment,

health, water management and rural development. The Programme officers identified areas and

launched projects in the adopted village, thereby bringing long term benefits to the villagers.

Along with these special camps, in regular programmes, we concentrate our process to develop

social commitment, dedication for work, to inculcate intellectual and mental development along

with personality development among NSS volunteers. This enables them to learn more about the

community and perform their obligatory function towards the development of community and

country.
