Covid-19 cases – pillar 1 and pillar 2

CONFIRMED CASES• 55 new lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases were detected in

Cambridgeshire (33) and Peterborough (22) in the latest reporting week, 10 - 16 Aug.

• The cumulative rate of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population in Huntingdonshire (524.8) and Peterborough (759.4) remain statistically significantly higher than the national rate (490.0).

CONFIRMED CASES - TREND

The 7 day rolling average of confirmed cases for Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, and each of the Cambridgeshire districts, shows a declining trend overall since the respective peak in Covid-19 cases.

Confirmed cases have increased in East Cambridgeshire (+5) compared to the previous week.

Key Points

• 14th August– R rate: UK 0.8 to 1.0. East of England 0.7 to 0.9 https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-r-number-in-the-uk

• 6th August– R rate: East of England is 0.81 (95% confidence interval, 0.61 to 1.02). https://www.mrc-bsu.cam.ac.uk/now-casting/

• For Cambridgeshire & Peterborough combined, the total number of lab-confirmed cases for the last reporting period (10th – 16th August) has decreased (55 compared to 66 in the previous week).

• The cumulative lab-confirmed rate per 100,000 in Huntingdonshire and Peterborough is statistically significantly higher than England - but the weekly cases and rates show a decline since the peak overall, though there is some variations in the weekly numbers across each area.

• Most confirmed cases have been seen in individuals aged 20 – 39.

• Most confirmed cases have been linked to outbreaks in workplaces which are contained or within households. Daily meetings are taking place within the LA to monitor these.

Local Schools Data: 10rd August – 16th August

• Due to schools being closed for the summer holidays, we have not been notified of any possible cases of COVID-19 or anyone isolating due to a contact* showing symptoms.

• Schools operating holiday clubs have been asked to report this via the Early Years Service.

• Since 20th July, 56 possible cases of COVID-19 have been reported to the Early Years Service with one of those receiving a positive result (child).

• During this reporting period (10th – 16th August), the Early Years Service have been notified of 17 possible cases of COVID-19 in Early Years Settings/Holiday Club provision. Of those 11 have received a negative test result, and 6 are still awaiting the results of the test. There have been 0 confirmed cases.
