Pueblo Indians were the Hopi and Zuna.
• They developed a village way of life, based on farming. “Pueblo” comes from the
Spanish word meaning “village.”
•Other tribes in the region were not farmers.
•One of the tribes were the Apache who were hunters.
•Another one was the Navajo who raised sheep.
Housing
Why would they build their
houses on mesas?
Men governed the villages, but women
owned all the property and passed it on to the
daughters.
