REFLECTIONS – Sixth Sunday of Easter - How easily are you offended by what others say? Do you find yourself feeling indignant when others twist what you say or do? Do you feel you have the right or even obligation to “set them straight” and clear your name? Is that the way a disciple of Christ should respond? There will always be things we say and do that others find offensive in some way, even if that was the furthest thing from our minds. The best way to refute falsehoods is by living an honorable life - doing what is right and just, treating others with respect, kindness and compassion. The fruits of our behavior will bring out the truth.

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” - John 14:15 Reprinted with permission from S.T. Productions.

SOLEMNITY OF THE ASCENSION “The National Conference of Catho-lic Bishops has decided to leave the decision of the transfer of the So-lemnity of the Ascension to each of the ecclesiastical provinces in the United States. This decision re-ceived recognition of the Holy See.

In accord with the decision of the National Con-ference and subsequent recognition of the Holy See, the Bishops of the Province of New Orleans at a meeting on November 10, 1999, transferred the Solemnity of the Ascension from Ascension Thursday to the 7th Sunday of Easter.” There-fore, the Solemnity of the Ascension for the year 2017 will be celebrated on the 7th Sunday of Easter, May 28th.
