We extend our sympathy to Monsignor Mooney on the death of his sister, Bernadette Quinn.

May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Amen.

Thank you! A heartfelt thank you to every-one who participated in Catholic Charities’ Giving Tree project this year. Because of your

generosity, Christmas was made brighter for 125 children. The gift cards that were donated will be used to help those in need during the coming year.

Blue Christmas Mass will be offered at St. Paul's Catholic Church for those who don’t

feel joyful during the season.

The holidays can be a very painful time of year for those grieving a loss, those who are alone, sick, experiencing

financial difficulties or have difficult family relationships. The usual celebrations and expectations of the season can

exacerbate feelings of depression and anxiety, contrib-uting to further alienation. St. Paul Parish is offering a Blue Christmas Mass for those who are suffering. All are invited to celebrate the true religious meaning of the

season in a more reflective atmosphere, without the pressures of the social expectations of the season. The Blue Christmas Mass will be celebrated at

St. Paul Catholic Church Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 7:00PM

and we hope you will join us. Sponsored by St. Paul’s Stephen Ministry.

A relationship of faith and commitment exists between the Catholic Church and its members and the public, whether they are children, young people, adults or elderly. Sexual abuse is this context, or any other relationship, is a matter of grave concern. Knowledge of such abuse requires a special response in order to facilitate the healing process and assure the safety of the community. With this in mind, The Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee is committed to healing the hurting hearts of sexual abuse victims and has established Victims Assistance Coordinators, experienced and trained counselors. These coordinators are available to help persons who have been sexually abused by a priest, deacon or other church personnel. VICTIM ASSISTANCE COORDINATORS: Pensacola/Ft. Positive lifestyle changes such as losing weight, exercise and keep-ing blood glucose levels in check can manage type 2 diabetes to a point where some people may not need medications. The most common cause of type 2

diabetes is obesity related. What can be done? Some tips are to replace sweetened drinks with water or no-calorie beverages. Instead of fruit juice, consider tomato or vegetable juice. Sub-stitute snacks like chips and pretzels for vegeta-bles such as sweet peppers, celery and carrots which helps increase your veggie intake to the recommended 3 cups a day. Try ground turkey instead of ground beef when making-tacos, hamburgers or chili. Use low-fat or fat-free dairy products.

Father Pat’s Page This past Monday evening the Ladies Society enjoyed a terrific Christmas Party, an evening of information, song and eats! Father Emmanuel gave a look at how Christmas is celebrated in his native country and village in Tanzania. Insightful questions were asked and Father Emmanuel helped us to become familiar with how other Catholics in this world celebrated this great feast. Father Grebe led the singing using his sidekick, his guitar. It was a terrific evening. There should be pics of the evening here somewhere. Thanks, Ladies.

Also… the Ladies Christmas Bazaar was a great success. I’m sure they will have a some info for you as well in the bulletin.

+

The lights in the parking lot are all UP. Turning them on is another chore but they should be in working order very soon. It will take a “shut off” of power in the hall and rectory for a few days … we’ll get there.

We are also having similar pole lights placed in the area behind the Hall. This is not part of the construction project but since the electricians are working here already it won’t take a separate charge for them to come here. The equipment is being ordered and will be in position soon.

The glass is being placed in the Narthex as I write this. We’ve been needing this to continue with projects inside the church building itself.

+

It was brought up at our staff meeting this past week that we will probably discontinue placing the coming week’s Priest-celebrant schedule in the bulletin. If you do use this info and would like for us to continue doing so we will, just give a call to Pat in the Office and let us know.

+

Lots of things being prepared for Christmas. Let’s use this Advent Season to prepare our interior self for this coming celebration.
