New Strategic Concept and Crisis Management - Overview
No alteration of the core tasks and principles, but adjustment to the dynamics of global security
Emphasis on the nexus between allied security, assistance to fragile states and intervention in crisis areas
Reflects the lessons learned throughout NATO’s advancement in crisis management policies and structures
Broadens the Alliance’s activities (e.g. counterinsurgency, nation-building, humanitarian assistance), thus projecting NATO’s action in a global context
Enables NATO to conduct a plurality of operations simultaneously and in concert with other international actors
