Types Of Vegetation
Tropical Evergreen Forest. Tropical Deciduous Forest. Tropical Thorn Forest &
Scrubs. montane Forest. Mangrove Forest.
Tropical Evergreen Forest
These forest are restricted to heavy Rainfall.
They are at their best in areas having more than 200cm of rainfall with a short dry season.
The trees reach great height up to 60m. Some of the commercially important trees
of this forest are ebony, mahogany, rosewood.
Animals like monkey, lemur & deer.
Tropical Deciduous Forest
These are the most widespread forest in India, They are also called the Monsoon.
Spread over the region receiving rainfall between 200cm & 70cm.
Trees of this forest types shed their leaves for about six to eight week in dry summer.
These forest exist therefore mostly in the eastern part of the country.
Tropical Thorn Forest & Scrubs
In region with less than 70cm of rainfall, The natural vegetation consists of thorny trees & bushes.
This type of vegetation is found in the north-western part of the country like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh.
montane Forest
In mountainous areas, the decrease in temperature with increasing altitude lead to the corresponding changes in Natural Vegetation.
The wet temperate type of forests are found between a height of 1000 to 2000m.
Trees like pine deodar, silver fir. The common animals found in these forests
are Kashmir stag rabbit & wild sheep.
Mangrove Forest
The mangrove tidal forests are found in the areas of coats influenced by tides.
The deltas of the Ganga the Mahanadi, The Krishna and kaveri are covered by such vegetation.
Royal Bengal Tiger is the famous animal in these forests. Turtle, snakes are also found in these forest.
