Nature in Art runs a variety of activity sessions for children
throughout the year. All activities are £6 and include
entrance to the gallery for one adult and one child. All
activities need to be booked in advance via:
www.natureinart.org.uk
All activities use age-appropriate materials and techniques.
On each of the Activity Day workshops themes are adapted
and run at the following times;
10.30-12.00pm: for 3 – 7 years
1.00-2.30pm: for 3+ years
3.00-4.30pm: for 8 – 18 years

Valentines Heart Wreath A lovely workshop using card and other decora-
tive materials to make a heart shaped wreath

Winter Window Make a sun catcher winter window from all
things wintery, Whether its leaves from the gar-
den of snowflake patterns. By using transparent
paper and a selection of materials a picture
can be made which can hang in a window allow-
ing light to shine through.

Create designs from
Nature. Taking inspiration from nature’s patterns and
shapes we will make quick sketches and then by
using a view finder select and area of interest to
make your own unique designs to take home with
you

Tues 11th April Easter Egg Spoon Planter Using a variety of recycled materials including plas-
tic spoons hand painted make this lovely spring time
planter . Ideas for holding plants or large chocolate
eggs!

Media Workshop With all the blossom trails in the area this is an op-
portunity to create your own blossom picture using
different techniques and materials.

with Watercolour Try out different techniques to create wa-
tercolour paintings with a nature theme.
Experiments include dropping, spreading,
rubbing adding salt, white spirit and resist
methods
.
Fri 14thApril Leaf Relief Make an amazing picture using leaves and silver foil.
The technique is very simple but creates an an-
tique metallic finish .

Easter Holidays
Tues 18th April Stained-glass Effect Flowers Using wire and a special type of resin we will create
lovely wire flowers. The special resin becomes
transparent and so will allow the light to shine
through.
Weds 19th April Marbleised Shaving Cream
Birds Using shaving cream to make marbleised images and
then transforming them into beautiful, colourful fantasy
birds.

chemistry building toothpick sculptures.

Weds 31st May Doodle Cubes This workshop is so much fun. Take a flat surface
2 dimensional drawing and make it into 3 dimen-
sions as well as creating you own designs on the
cube. Keep it simple by filling in colour or more
complicated by matching up patterns to get a
flowing design.

Make your own woven
Ojo de Dios (Gods Eye) The Ojo de Dios was originated by the Hu-
ichol people of western Mexico. Originally
they were created when a child was born,
each year a new layer of yarn was added to
the weaving. Once the child turned 5 the
weaving was complete and hung in the child's
home. It's believed to be the eye of God
watching over and protecting the child.

Pond Dipping Today we will open our gates especially for you!
Children will explore the pond life under the guid-
ance of the Education Officer. They will be intro-
duced to the habitat and how to collect and view
the pond creatures that they catch. Magnifying
glasses, pots and name trails are given to help iden-
tify the creatures.
Why not bring your sketchbook to draw your
favourite catch.

3D Effects on Paper So easy but very effective way to make simple draw-
ings look 3 dimensional.

gami Society. He has appeared on TV on Kir-
sty’s Handmade Britain and Harry Hill’s TV
Burp amongst others, and has his own web-
site www.smiley-origami.me.uk. He has cre-
ated 100’s of his own origami designs that are
fun, interesting and guaranteed to make you
smile! Learn how to make jumping frogs,
pecking swans, flapping birds, flowers and
much more!

Drawing from Observation
Drawing comes from observation and practice
and develops the way we see things. By select-
ing items for our collection the we will begin by
creating a series of studies that help children
focus on the line and shape. We are not look-
ing for masterpieces just evidence of practice.

Using different materials such as wallpaper, fabrics ,

Paul Klee was linked to the Expressionism and
Bauhaus movements. He used design, pattern, col-
our and symbols to express himself. He experi-
mented with different techniques and greatly ad-
mired the art of children who he felt created with
freedom and simplicity. In this workshop we look
at his drawings and paintings and recreate his style
into a portrait, fish or any other natural object .

Make an Autumn Hat Great fun. Make up a autumn hat to celebrate
the harvest using all kinds of fabric, haber-
dashery and stuff from the garden !
Weds 25th October Batik Autumn Leaves To create batik areas of cloth are blocked out
with hot wax. The wax creates a resist so when
the cloth is covered in a dye only the non waxed
areas change colour. In this workshop you will
create a batik painting by using a tjanting to draw
outlines using wax and then dyes to add colour.

ing lantern for the dark winter nights. Just add
