    *1. Governor AUTO. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .(MANUAL for manual fuel start)

    *2. Start first engine.

    a. Starter Engaged (Note rotor blade movement. . . . . .

within 10 seconds. Passing 12-percent Ng,engine oil pressure indicating, and minimum 15 volts.)

    b. Throttle OPEN (note fuel flow 75 to 100 pph). . . . .

    CAUTION

Ensure Ng reaches 12 percent before throttles areopened. An overheat condition may occur without pilot knowledge, possibly causingdamage to the power turbine section.

    Note

D   The No. 2 twist grips are normally more stiff to operate than the No. 1 twist grips.

D   If ITT fails to rise within 15 seconds afteropening the throttle, close the throttle andturn the main fuel switch and starter off.

Allow a 30-second fuel draining period, followed by a 15-second motoring run priorto attempting another start.

D   During cold-weather operation orhigh-altitude operations when Ng hangs up or

will not accelerate to idle speed, it may benecessary to attempt a start utilizing manualfuel control. The throttle directly controls Ngacceleration to flight idle and should beapplied rapidly enough to ensure Ng does nothang up below flight idle. Upon reachingflight idle Ng, the control governor switchshould be shifted back to AUTO.

Fluctuations in ITT, fuel flow, and Ng can beexpected during manual/automatic crossover.

    c. Starter OFF at 50-percent Ng. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .(check all temperatures and pressures)

    CAUTION

If no combining gearbox or transmission oilpressure is evident, shut the engine downimmediately and investigate the cause.
