Championship Notes-- Liberty has made four NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship appearances (1997, 1999, 2001 & 2007).
-- Liberty won its first game in the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship in 2007, dropping a 3-1 first-round decision to No. 10 national seed Cal. The Golden Bears went on to reach the Final 4.
-- A Big South volleyball team has never won a match in the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship, and only two squads have taken a game (Winthrop in 2006 & Liberty in 2007).
-- Penn State defeated Stanford, 3-2, to win the 2007 NCAA Division I National Volleyball Championship.
