Getting Qualified National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) and Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs)
are fast becoming the standard that all employees must achieve. They form the basis
of Apprenticeships, the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and other card
schemes – making them crucial to get on in the industry.
The qualifications are developed and approved by
people who work in the industry and are designed to
measure employees’ practical skills and job knowledge.
This makes them ideal for employees and employers
alike – helping those with experience to prove their skills
and give employers reassurance that they can do the job.
The National Construction College is now able to offer
an extended range of assessment methods for
qualifying experienced employees. These
convert existing skills into a nationally
recognised qualification.
CITB Grants
There are CITB grants available to help cover the cost of
On Site Assessment. For instance, you might be able to
claim a substantial grant for qualifying an experienced
employee to Level 2 NVQ/SVQ.
CITB may also be able to help you tap into other
Government funding streams, making it simpler and
cheaper than ever to qualify your workforce.
Quality Assurance Service
provides can give you information, advice and guidance,
plus help and support on internal quality assurance, right
through to running your IQA centre for you.
On Site Assessment confirms quality
and competence in the workplace. It
also creates greater awareness of health
and safety issues. Ultimately the On Site
 Assessment service generates a higher
quality and more employable workforce. Jon Mortimore, Mortimore Construction, The Wirral
