Voluntary Adoption of public access benchmarks for library and local government partners to use to:– Assess quality of library public access technology
services– Demonstrate the value of library public access
technology services to people and communities– Motivate ongoing investment (local $, Gates $, etc.)– Create a dialog…like: “If we can do ___ with the
resources we have now, we could do ___ with _____!”
Benchmarks will be:
•Aspirational...not status quo•Voluntary...so must be relevant to libraries of all sizes •Help all libraries recognize achievements •Provide a path for continuous improvement•Focus on the actual uses of technology Education
