hygiene program toinclude:

= Use of mouthwashmade from warm water
with salt and baking soda.A dilute solution of
hydrogen peroxide maybe used for bleeding or
infected tissue
^ To identifyprophylactictreatment needs
before initiation ofchemotherapy or
radiation andprovides baseline
data of current oral
hygiene for futurecomparison.
^ Productscontaining alcohol
and phenol mayexacerbate mucous
membranedryness/irritation.
May be soothingto the membranes.
Rinsing beforemeals may improve
the clients sense oftaste. Rinsing after
meals and atbedtime dilutes oral
acids and relievesxerostomia.
