Detailed ProblemDescription
The results from the training cell evaluation where clear, however the root-cause HASN¿T been identified yet (and this makes the results veryconfusing) Mfg. Name: EXLAR CORPORATION Description: ACTUATOR (LINEAR)-VERSA GUN SERVO COMAU/ABB/KUKA Mfg. PartNumber: VG GSX40-0602 TAL-S326636 (2) GSX40-0602 servo actuator TAL-S326637 (1) GSX40-0605 servo actuator
Comment
The facts are straight forward: 1. The fault / error code identified a ¿grounding¿ issue to axis 8 (servo weld gun) 2. The fault / error codes at therobot were eliminated only when the actuator was replaced. 3. The fault / error codes haven¿t reappeared since the actuator was replaced. 4.The actuators passed the ¿hi-pot test¿ at 2800V 5. The actuators operated perfectly when connected to a series of ¿closed-loop test¿, using asimple drive unit (powered at 120V) 6. The ¿05¿ actuator that had the ¿hard fault¿ on Sunday, operated without error when connected to thetraining robot (not connected to gun) The next step are: A. Tomorrow (July 2nd) the ¿05¿ hard-fault actuator will be tested on the robot in ARS
S12R02, to see if we can replicate the fault / error (to protect production, the unit will be operated off of the gun). B. Bryce Kircheis will provide: a.(2) GSX40-0602 Comau actuators + (1) GSX40-0605 Comau actuator to John Saari, in warranty exchange for the 3 units that have causedproblems. b. *the recovered units will be returned to the Innovation Center, where they can be tested on the Blue Room robots i. Doug / Tony willmake sure we have the same condition of robot in the test to replicate the fault / error code C. Chris Somercik will provide a quote to John Saarifor a simple Lenze test amplifier, so that John can operate the servo guns off of the robot to help in future investigations. During our investigation,Dave Taylor visited the training cell¿he isn¿t very happy with the problems he is having with the Comau equipment, and he doesn¿t want anymore lost production due to Comau! There will be a report from Chris Somercik and Doug Holland, that will address the testing and results. Istrongly recommend an internal Comau Kaizen to see if we can determine the root-cause of this problem.
