CHALLENGE

Since 2008 AMC Instruments has performed an intensive work connected to the developmentof NdT devices dedicated to the field of elevators, by transporting its experience coming from other sectors such as the ropeways and industrial ones.

CHALLENGE

Requires coming from the field

More than 1 rope to test

Reduced distancebetween the ropes

Wide range of ropediameters

Reduced spaces and difficulty to access to

the ropes

Wide range of differentplants

Multi channelmeasuring head and acquisition system

Selectivity of the system

Flexibility in terms of diameter range

Very portable device

Easy to install

COATED ROPES AND BELTS

In last years, new suspenction elements have been developed and used. In recent elevators itis possible to find polymeric coated ropes and belts, in which the classic visual control cannotbe performed

SOLUTION: MRT

Page 18: NdT inspection of wire ropes for elevators

BELTS

Up to 12 little metallic ropes inside a polymeric structure

AMC Instruments has developed a newsystem validated through hundreds of testsperformed around the world

COATED ROPES

Little diameter ropes (less than 7mm diameter) coated with polymeric material

Also in this case the visual control cannotbe performed. AMC has developed adevice that allows to test the ropes withthe MI method without to damage thecoating
