NEW NEBOSH International General Certificate in TurkishI’m delighted to announce that RRC, in partnership with Turkish safety training provider ARME, are running the first ever NEBOSH International General Certificate course in the Turkish language, and I will be in Istanbul next week to experience it first hand!

Staff at ARME - RRC’s Partner in Turkey (Left to right: Demet Nazik, Gokhan Kucuk, Serkan Kucuk, Ali

Demir, Onur Gokulu, Burcu Ozdemir, Huseyin Emiroglu)

This exciting development has been met with huge success, so we’re very proud to have been involved. The first course commences in Istanbul next week and, as this course has been so popular, a second course has already been scheduled for early next year. There’s a lot of work to be done in the Turkish health and safety industry, but this is a very positive step!

Many thanks to our partner ARME for all their hard work, and to NEBOSH for providing their IGC exam in Turkish, without which this would never have been possible.

More information on the partnership between ARME and RRC, as well as details of the courses available in Istanbul, are available on our website.

RRC team at the SHP IOSH Awards 2012 (Left to right: Dr David Towlson, Michelle Shepherd, Gosia

Tulazc, Theresa David, Dr David Wenham and Allan Ferguson)

RRC Managing Director Gary Fallaize and International Development Executive Gosia Tulacz were also in attendance at the Awards, as guests of NEBOSH.

NEW NVQs in Occupational Health and Safety Now AvailableDue to popular demand, RRC are now accredited by OCR to offer two brand new qualifications:

• NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Level 3)

• NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (Level 5)

An NVQ (or National Vocational Qualification) is a great alternative for H&S professionals who are seeking a formal qualification but don’t have the time or inclination for sitting exams and assignments. It’s not for everyone, but it’s already proving very popular.

Unlike traditional exam-based qualifications (like NEBOSH and IOSH courses), NVQs offer an opportunity to gain a professional qualification based on evidence of your experience and competence.

More details, and a short video which explains what NVQs are all about, are available on our website.

RRC at the SHP IOSH Awards 2012At RRC we love to celebrate success within the health and safety industry, and the SHP IOSH Awards are always a fantastic opportunity to do just that! This year the glittering event took place in the Park Lane Hilton in London on 18 October and, as usual, the brightest and best of the UK H&S industry were in attendance.

RRC were proud to sponsor the Campaign of the Year Award this year. The prestigious award was won by the very deserving Tristar Transport Company for their campaign “Check Every Step“ which promotes good practice in all Tristar Transport operations across the globe. Congratulations to all at Tristar Transport who are involved in this campaign.

You can watch this Award being presented, along with other highlights from the evening, on the SHP YouTube channel.

A selection of photographs from the event are also available on the SHP Flickr Photostream.

This year, we also gave our RRC NEBOSH Diploma students the opportunity to win VIP tickets for them and a colleague to join RRC at the event. We also asked them to nominate their favourite RRC tutor and member of the RRC team in London. RRC Tutors Dr David Wenham and Allan Ferguson were the proud winners of this accolade and, despite fierce competition in the London office, Michelle Shepherd from the Customer Services team and Theresa David from the Exams team made it to the top of the poll and also attended.

Meet Us at... The 6th Annual HSW & IIRSM Conference If you’re planning to visit the The 6th Annual HSW & IIRSM Conference: Health & Safety at Work in Birmingham this year, be sure to visit the RRC stand to say hello and see what we have to offer!

This year the event will be held at the ICC in Birmingham on 15th November and, with a keynote address by Judith Hackett CBE, it’s definitely not one to be missed!

If you haven’t already registered, there are still places available.

www.conferencesandtraining.com/en/Browse-Events/Health--Safety/Health---Safety-At-Work---Birmingham

I’ll be on the RRC stand with Gary and we’ll have the infamous RRC pens (and, hopefully some chocolates!), so you can be sure you won’t leave empty handed!

Dr T on the RRC stand at the Health and Safety Expo earlier this year (stealing the sweets!)

The SHE Show - North EastHeather Oldfield (Customer Relations extraordinaire) and Zoe Neasham (former RRC student, current RRC trainer and part-time marathon runner) will be manning the RRC stand at the first ever Safety, Health and Environment Show - North East. It’s taking place on 20th November in the Newcastle Marriott Gosforth Park and RRC will be on Stand 8.

It’s always exciting to be part of something new, and there are some very good speakers lined up, so it’s well worth taking the time to visit. Details of the full programme are available on the website.

NEW Technical Update!Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 - What You Need to KnowAs the title suggests, the newest RRC Technical Update contains essential information about the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. You may already know that these revised Regulations follow the previous 2006 version; they introduce additional requirements and controls for those working with asbestos in the UK.

It provides a great introduction for those new to the topic, but also offers a really useful refresher for those invovled in managing asbestos. It’s a topic that shouldn’t be taken lightly, so make sure you take time to get up-to-date.

As always, you can download the Technical Update for FREE from the RRC website.
