If the System 4xi is already configured for an NEC/Runco or NEC XG projector,go to step 4. If it is not set up correctly, it will be necessary to change switchsettings on the System 4xi ’s Main Controller Board. Begin at Step 1 to verify thecorrect configuration.

1. Use the Front Panel to display the Information Menu to verify that the System 4xiis already set up for the NEC/Runco or NEC XG projector. Apply power to theSystem 4xi and do the following:

a. Press to display the MENU SELECT on the LCD screen.

b. Press or to step to Menu 8.

c. Press to select this menu.

d. Press or to display the configuration. The example to the left is general, yours will show the System 4xi model name, the software version and thefollowing information:PRJ = NEC (or NEC_XG for XG model)PRJ BAUD = 9600UNIT No. = 000HST BAUD = 9600 (value depends upon setup Menu 3)

2. Go to the procedure on page 2-3 to remove the System 4xi cover and then go topage 2-4 to set up the Main Controller board. Return to Step 3 (below) when theconfiguration is correct.

8. Power up the projector and set the projector as follows:

• if your system has less than 10 inputs, set the projector to SW_Level 1 mode

• if your system has 10 or more inputs, set the projector to SW_Level 2 mode

9. Apply AC power to the System 4xi.

____________ For the NEC XG: always apply AC power to the projector and place it in Stand-

by power before applying AC power to the System 4xi. This procedure must be followed anytime AC power to the system has been interrupted or the CC cable detached. Failure to follow this AC power up sequence will causecommunication errors.

The following two examples and accompanying tables provide information for setting up the NEC projector (not the System 4xi). Please refer to the projector documentation for further details.

The table on the right lists the Extron channel assignments and the corresponding NEC host and peripheral slotassignments using Extron System Switchers.

The physical location of the Extron channelassignments will depend on the systemsetup.

The tables and charts in the examples belowillustrate System Switcher channelassignments for NEC models PG, PG+, PGXand XG.
