Nedap and Librix Online
Nedap N.V.
Nedap was established in 1929 and has been listed on the
stock exchange since 1947. With over 750 employees and
11 offices, Nedap is active around the world. Nedap exists
to solve relevant problems with innovative technology:
technology that matters. Nedap’s solutions are designed in
a creative and innovative way, with the aim to make elegant
and user-friendly products. Nedap is active in 9 market seg-
ments, which including Libraries, Security, Livestock, Retail
and Healthcare.
RFID in libraries
RFID stands for Radio-Frequency IDentification. In a library
one would enclose an RFID label in every book, which can
then be ‘seen’ by library solutions. RFID eliminates re-
petitive tasks, reduces costs and improves service levels.
Thanks to RFID libraries can stay open longer with fewer
resources. If necessary, libraries can even operate without
any staff on sight or at a remote location, so even though
resources may be limited, patrons maintain access to li-
brary services.
Five simple solutions for all libraries
Nedap helps thousands of libraries across the world with five
simple solutions. These solutions are design to help the small-
est and biggest, and the most classical and most innovative
libraries.
A worldwide phenomenon
Nedap is the only supplier in the world that produces RFID
hardware and software just for libraries. Their library solutions
are used in over a 1.000 libraries over the entire globe. The
institutions that use our portfolio range from public libraries
to universities, high schools and special libraries. From the
university library of Djibouti to Abu Dhabi and from the Del
Prado Museum in Madrid to the library of Hannover, with 18
branches. Each month new libraries are signing up. For refer-
ences in your own country have a look at www.nedaplibrary.

Nedap Library Solutions
SelfServer
The SelfServer is an All-in-One solution for libraries, and is used to check-in and check-
out library items. The sturdy and timeless design will make it fit into your architect’s
design without disturbing the library experience.
MidRanger
The MidRanger with antenna is a multi-purpose solution for reading RFID activated li-
brary items on 13.56 MHz. The product allows for a short-range shielded detection
field, and can be used as a desktop solution or can be mounted under a (non-metal)
table.
Detection Antennae
Your library’s collection is a valued community investment. Protect your library resourc-
es using Nedap’s detection antennae. The detection antennae help you protect your
items from unintended removal or theft. When someone walks between the antennae
with an item that is not checked out properly the gate will light up and an alarm will
sound.
Intelligent Shelving
Intelligent shelves detect and identify all items that are placed between the RFID book-
stands. When situated near the entrance of the library, it is easily accessible for a pa-
tron. He places the books on the shelf and the items are automatically checked-in in
your Library Management System.
EcoReader
The EcoReader is a high power RFID reader designed for applications that require a
large read range or must be able to detect a large amount of RFID tags simultaneously.
These applications include anti-theft detection antennas and intelligent shelves. Start
saving energy.

Librix Online
Librix Online is a tool that helps you to centrally monitor your library and analyze the performance of your equipment.
Optimize your library workflows
Librix Online allows any Nedap device to report its activities to a central place over a network and it provides a powerful and easy
to use web interface to that information.
Website
The front-end of Librix Online is a website. This means that you don’t need to install any software on your computer to use it.
Therefore, getting started is easy as 1-2-3. You receive a username and password. On any omputer, you go to www.librixonline.
com and you are in business.
On top of that we are continually improving Librix Online by fine-tuning and adding features and because of the fact that it is a
website, no local updates are needed. You are always up to date.
Monitoring
Librix Online helps you monitor your library. When a device is performing outside a set of restrictions, you are notified. For ex-
ample, when an abnormal percentage of labels can’t be read, we will tell you about this. Moreover, Librix Online also provides
possible solutions for problems that occur.
LMS connection
We also keep an eye on your connection with your Library Management System. When the communication speed to and from the
LMS decreases, we will let you know. So you know what is going on.
Analysis
Librix Online allows you to analyze customer behavior. It shows you which devices are actively used. It also shows you what
customers are doing on these devices. This way, before investing in extra self-service equipment, you might find that moving a
device that is hardly used to a ‘hot-spot’in your library, will solve your capacity problems.
Train your customers
Additionally, you can use Librix Online to train your customers. Librix Online will tell you exactly how many users do not properly
check out books, which cause alarms or enables other users to lend books under a wrong account. With this information, you
know exactly where your focus points should lie to enable your customers to make the most out of your self service stations.
Get credit for what you do
With our antenna system with integrated customer counting, you can even make a distinction between people that have entered
your library and the number of unique members that actually have lent a book. As a result, this great tool provides you with a
clear overview of how many people visit your library just to read a newspaper, do research or enjoy other services you provide.
Because you want to get credit for what you do!
Easy installation
Librix Online only requires a computer with a browser. To connect a device to Librix Online, it needs to be able to connect to the
internet. That’s all.
Security
Librix Online only sends information out to your computer, it is not necessary to get into your system to obtain the notifications.
This means that you don’t have to turn off firewalls or other security devices to get the information you want.
Service calls
On top of this, you can use Librix Online to raise service calls. Simply click on a device that is not working properly and add any
additional information you would like to know. Your local Nedap Librix contact will receive an email and can check your device’s
status by also using Librix Online. So everybody is talking the same language. The clear manner in which Librix Online reports
any problems that occur on your equipment, will speed up problem shooting and will help to clear problems. So you are up and
running in no time.
Forum
Librix Online is also equipped with a forum. On this forum you can use the Librix Online network to start and participate in any
library topic. Naturally, you can also use this platform to share knowledge and ask questions.

Librix Online will send you several monitoring messages.
