Beisecker explains the appeal of aplace like Fairlawn, she says, “It’s asmall community but big during the dayfrom all the businesses that we havehere. It definitely has a small-town feeleven though it’s busy and most peoplewho live here know everyone.”

The Copley-Fairlawn City Schoolsdistrict is composed of five educationalbuildings that are Arrowhead PrimarySchool, Fort Island Primary School,Herberich Primary School, Copley-Fairlawn Middle School and CopleyHigh School.

The school district is also a memberof the Four Cities Joint VocationalCompact with Barberton, Norton andWadsworth schools. Vocational classesare offered through this programmingoption.

Copley-Fairlawn City Schools havereceived an excellent with distinctionstatus from the Ohio State Board ofEducation.

St. Hilary School, associated withthe Diocese of Cleveland, is a two-timerecipient of the U.S. Department ofEducation’s Blue Ribbon Award forexcellence in education in 2001 and2008. St. Hilary has been an institutionin the Fairlawn community since 1959.

The Fairlawn area has severalmedical facilities and hospitals to keepyour family in great health. Lifestylesat Akron General’s Health & WellnessCenter is a medically supervisedfitness location that provides thecommunity with an overall wellnessmodel. The goal at Lifestyles ispreventative health and not just treatingsomeone when there is a problem. Thefacility at 4125 Medina Road offers anindoor rock climbing wall, fitnessclasses, indoor and outdoor track,indoor lap pools, a steam room andmore.

Summa Urgent Care, located at 2875W. Market St., Suite B, treats patientswith no appointments necessary.Doctors are on call at all times to tendto your most urgent needs and SummaUrgent Care provides many servicesincluding digital X-ray, allergies,fractures, colds, pneumonia and more.

Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center, inpartnership with Summa HealthSystem and Crystal Clinic, is located at3975 Embassy Parkway. The center

specializes in treatments for ailmentsthat affect the musculoskeletal system.The center’s board-certified surgeonsare available to offer comprehensivecare and treatment.

Parks & OutdoorsFor those not inclined to spend a dayindoors at the mall, Fairlawn providesjust as many outdoor options as it doesshopping locations. With lush greenery,plenty of walking trails, play equipmentand outdoor programming, the parkssystem of Fairlawn is the perfect placeto spend a day this summer.

Bicentennial Park, located on SouthSmith Road, is two acres of land with agazebo, paved walkways andlandscaping that is host to numerouscommunity events such as the summerconcert series, Stewart’s Caring PlaceHope Walk and the Fourth of Julyfireworks.

Croghan Park opened in 1972 at theintersection of North Miller Road andSand Run Parkway, and contains 7.5acres with three tennis courts, twobasketball courts, picnic tables, aplayground, walking path, two handballcourts and benches in a sheltered area.Croghan Park also co-hosts, withGriffiths Park, the park department’sfree summer park program.

Fairlawn Park on Ridgewood Road ishome to the community garden andsoccer fields. The community gardenconsists of plots of land that belong toFairlawn residents to plant and tendthroughout the year. Plots arepurchased in three- or one-yearcontracts.
