After a short scenic flight we arrive at the airport in Suketar (2400m). We follow a gradual trail along the

rhododendron covered hillside called Surke Danda. Then the trail crosses a ridge at 2580m and then descends through

the forests to the picturesque Limbu village of Tembewa for an overnight stay at our campsite.

Day 02: Trek Tembewa to Khesewa (1960m)-5 to 6 hours

Today the trail ascends first to a ridge before dropping steeply through Shimu and Pokara villages to a suspension

bridge across the Phawa Khola River. Then, we will climb steeply up to the Limbu village of Kunjari (1700m) and carry

on through the wheat fields to a Gurung settlement atop a 2240 meter high pass. From here we see the first views of

Kanchenjunga! The rest of the day goes through the Kabeli valley. Today’s endpoint is in the scattered village of

Khesewa.

Day 03: Trek Khesewa to Mamanke (1780m)-6 to 7 hours

After breakfast, our trek continues through the Kabeli valley passing a few stunning waterfalls. After descending

steeply the trail goes through rice terraces into a side canyon, when we cross the Khaksewa Khola River on a long

suspension bridge at 1540 meter and then climb back to Mamanke. This is an affluent Limbu village with bhattis

(teashops), shops, and a large school nearby our camp.

Day 04: Trek Mamanke to Yamphudin (1690m)-3 to 4 hours

Today, the trail will have us jumping from stone to stone as we first have to cross the Tenguwa Khola steam. Then we

climb steeply up to a ridge marked by a Chorten and many prayer flags and next downhill to the Kabeli Khola. It will be

another exercise of rock-hopping over boulders, tree roots and intersecting stream channels as we head upstream.

Then the trail gentle ascends to Yamphudin, where there is a mixed community of Sherpas, Limbus, Rais, and Gurungs.

Day 05: Trek Yamphudin to Torontan (2990m) -5 ½ to 6 ½ hours

After breakfast we will leave the river crossing a bridge while the trail continues its way. The stream trail leads us

through bamboo forests to a steep climb up to Chitre (2920m). Then trail becomes less strenuous passing through a

forest of pines and rhododendron to a pond at Lasiya Bhanjyang (3310m) then follows a steep set of switchbacks

leading downhill to a damp orchid-filled forests. After crossing several streams and an isolated clearings used by

herders, we will make camp above the wild river and follow it upstream to Torontan. Stay overnight at Tea House.

Day 06: Trek Torontan to Tseram (3870m) - 4 to 5 hours

After a hot breakfast served by our staff, the trip begins in forests of several varieties of rhododendron and then

crosses landslides to Tsento Kang, a goth (cowshed or hut in a high pasture) at 3360 meter. About an hour ahead we

will arrive at a Buddhist shrine decorated with rock cairns, prayer flags and Trisuls (the trident weapon of Shiva made

by three-pronged iron). This shrine has a small cave and marks the boundary of a sacred part of the valley, from where

it is prohibited to kill animals. Then we keep on our way to Tseram, through a large flat meadow with a single house at

3870m that doubles as a rustic lodge. The settlements in this valley are also goths (used for keep yak and cow by

herders).

Day 07: Trek Tseram to Ramche (4620m)-2 to 3 hours

Another beautiful day trip heading through a rocky loose path follows the stream and climbs up to some Mani walls

(stones carved with Buddhist prayers) to the Rathong (6678m) and Kabru Dome (6700m) loom at the head of the

valley. The trail ascends further alongside the moraine of Yalung Glacier to where the valley opens up as we approach

Yalung (4260m) and climbs further along the moraine to a lake and a big meadow at Ramche. There are few well built

houses here; some of them are hotels, but the owner spends so much time away that it rarely fulfils its purpose. The

view is dominated by the spectacular Rathong Peak and one can see herds of blue sheep live on the cliffs above our

campsite.

Day 08: Day trip Yalung Glacier, return to Ramche (4620m)-5 to 6hours

Today we make a day trip to the Yalung Glacier, following a stream alongside the moraine to a chorten (4800 m); we

have a fine view of the south face of Kanchenjunga (8598m) and Jannu (7710m). We retrace our steps back to our

campsite at Ramche after 5 to 6 hours.

Day 09: Trek Ramche to Lamite Bhanjyang (3410m)-6 to 7 hours

Today, we follow our way back along the Simbua Khola (days 6 and 7 in opposite direction) to a campsite at Lamite

Bhanjyang. This is a pond at 3410 meters and is a nice place to camp, although there might be a water shortage

sometimes.

Day 10: Trek Lamite Bhanjyang to Yamphudin (1690m) - 5 to 6 hours

Today is long descent. After a 1920 meter descent, today brings us back to the more inhabited and familiar area of

Yamphudin.
