Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said that at June 27 conference held in Tokyo that company is planning to increase the quality of its Netflix TV by providing original non-English dramas based on the preference of viewers.

In early June, Netflix streamed in 190 countries a drama adaptation of Naoki Matayoshi’s novel “Hibana” (Spark). Amazingly, half of the viewers of “Hibana” were from countries other than Japan.

It depends on the content whether Netflix is going to increase the revenue. To offer more content it is putting emphasis on “recommend” function. This function can make more Netflix users aware of popular titles such as “Hibana.”

Hasting said that “Hibana” was successful not only in Japan but also throughout the world. He also said that sharing content is a good way to get familiar with each other’s culture and countries.
