ISTE Nets for Elementary Students
1. Illustrate and communicate original ideas and stories using digital tools
and media-richresources. (1, 2)
To meet this goal I would have my students write their own version of their favorite childhood story.For the illustrations students would have the option of drawing them and scan their pictures onto the computer or using paint or clipart. In order to put the story together they would use programs such as Windows Movie Maker.The students would then present their stories to the class.
3. Engage in learning activities with learners from multiple cultures through
e-mail and otherelectronic means. (2, 6)
I will set up my students with electronic pals from a country they do not know much about.
The way that the students will be communicating will be through e-mail.
The students will also be able to use web cameras to talk with their electronic pals.
An activity the students will engage in will be comparing and contrasting social practices in different parts of the world.
6. Use simulations and graphical organizers to explore and depict
patterns of growth such asthe life cycles of plants and animals.
(1, 3, 4)I will have my students fulfill this standard in the science section of the class.
I will have them create an organizer showing the steps for conducting an experiment.
For this assignment they use Microsoft Word or PowerPoint.
After this assignment the students will have an understanding of how graphic organizers and they will be able to apply it to their other core subjects.
10. Demonstrate the ability to navigate in virtual environments such as
electronic books,simulation software, and Web sites. (6)
in their assigned website.
They would then have to bookmark the articles/tools using the Delicious website.
For this standard I would give the students an assignment using the Delicious social bookmarking site.
I would break up the class into groups. Each group would be assigned a different website.
The students would have to go on a scavenger’s hunt for certain articles/tool
