NETWORK MANAGEMENT TOOLS
Allows the administrator to know the health status
of the network.
They are necessary for troubleshooting of problems
in networks and detect problems
or failures and notify the various alarm.
Uses network probe. Probes let you isolate traffic
problems and congestions slowing your network to
a crawl.

span several packets. BENCHMARK A tool used to evaluate the
performance of network components.

SNMP MIB TOOLS
There are three types of SNMP MIB tools
1. SNMP MIB Browsers.
It uses the browser interface and can be used on any
platform supporting a web browser. SNMP COMMAND LINE Tool

PROTOCOL ANALYZER
Analyzes data packets on any transmission line
including LAN
Measurements made locally or remotely
Probe (data capture device) captures data andtransfers to the protocol analyzer (no storage)
Data link between probe and protocol analyzer
either dial-up or dedicated link or LAN
Protocol analyzer analyzes data at all protocollevels

ARGUS
Argus is a system and network monitoringapplication.
It will monitor nearly anything you ask it to monitor(TCP + UDP applications, IP connectivity, SNMP
OIDS, Programs, Databases, etc). It presents a nice clean, easy to view web interface
that will keep both the managers happy (Red Bad.Green Good.) and the techs happy ("Ah! that's whatthe problem is").
It can send alerts numerous ways (such as viapager) and can automatically escalate if someonefalls asleep.
