2 Important notes This chapter treats important notices for operation of NSR-500 Series.

・ If the power supply is interrupted while the unit is in operation, data may be

damaged. We RECOMMEND using an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) , or power off NSR-500 Series while power outage.(M12:92)

・ "Alarm Output" might be asserted about 2 seconds while NSR-500 Series boot

up.(M12:31)

・ Some problems in RealShot Manager Advanced Client and Media File Player which are included in the former version of NSR-500 are solved in this version. Please download them from the following web site and use them afterward upgrading if necessary. http://www.sony.net/Products/IPELA/NSR/NSR500/

・ Recorded images can vary in frame rate due to overload, network delay, etc.

These recorded images can be jumpy or look like fast-forwarding when played back. However, these movements are not caused by any image frame loss.

・ When you change H.264 Profile of SNC-xx600 series in NSR-500 with NSBK-DH05, the images of the cameras may turn to green. To avoid this malfunction, please apply the same profiles for all of the images to be used. Furthermore please do not change the settings during the operation. If this phenomenon occurs, configure the video settings again.

3 Note This chapter treats items to be cared for usage.

3-1 Installation / System Configuration

・ Please make sure to synchronize times of the server and cameras with a NTP server when you use Edge Storage function.

・ Image packets might be lost when network load is high because Edge Storage

function works on RTP/UDP protocol.

・ [C] The installer obtained from the support website of RealShot Manager Advanced can be used to install RealShot Manager Advanced (Server) / RealShot Manager Lite and RealShot Manager Advanced (Client). The installer downloaded from the support website of NSR can be used to install RealShot Manager Advanced (Client) only. In the case of RealShot Manager Advanced (Client) upgrade, to avoid potential problems, please upgrade with installer obtained from the same website as that in previous installation or upgrade.

・ When you change time zone through the Setup Menu, time settings of existing recording/actions schedules are shifted. If you change time zone, please check out all the schedules and reconfigure them as needed. (VT1:2026)

・ If user changes the time zone setting on the ‘Setup Menu’ in the middle of

operation such as schedule recording, the time setting of scheduled recording setting or scheduled action setting change. In case of changing the time zone setting after configuring schedules, please make sure them and correct them if necessary. (VT1:2026)

・ Only one USB mouse and/or one USB keyboard should be connected with the

NSR-500 Series. It is not recommended to connect more than one USB mouse and. or USB keyboard or use of KVM switch. (VT1:1868)

NSR-500 Series V1.6.5 Release Note

- 11 -

・ When you enter Community, Contact, Location, and Name in the SNMP configurations of the Setup Menu, the input values are automatically enclosed in double quotation marks. The double quotation marks, however, were not displayed in the input box with 1.3.0 or earlier versions, and you were not able to delete them. With V1.3.1, the marks have been displayed in the input box, and you can delete them if not needed. Also note that some SNMP managers cannot properly handle symbol characters including double quotation marks. (M14:266)

・ Do not start the machine while a USB flash memory is plugged. To use a USB

flash memory, plug it after the machine started, with the exception of which contains a USB installer. Starting the machine with a plugged USB flash memory may cause a start failure or misrecognition of the memory. To recover from such troubles, restart the machine with no USB flash memory plugged. (M14:148)

・ Currently after black out and power cut off happens to UPS, NSR can

shutdown automatically as configured. But it fails to come up infrequently after power recovery. It occurs when shutdown process of NSR and power recovery of UPS proceed almost the same time. So please kindly set the default 300 seconds of "Power off in seconds" which is configured in setup menu UPS, nor shorter than that period. For your safety, please make sure of NSR Power ON LED, after the power cut off happened and recovered on you. (V14N:v14026, M15:220)

3-1-1 Notes Concerned with Using Monitors

・ If you connect a monitor whose maximum resolution is not supported by NSR-500, and set the resolution as Auto, it will be configured as a maximum resolution; the Main window, etc. is displayed at the center in the largest size of supported resolutions. For example, when you connect a monitor whose maximum resolution is 1680x1050, the monitor's resolution goes to 1680x1050, and the Main window, etc. is displayed in the center area with the size of 1360x768. (M14:169)

NSR-500 Series V1.6.5 Release Note

- 12 -

・ If you select a resolution which the monitor does not support, the resolution

goes to the maximum for the monitor. Please be aware of that. (M14:22)

・ In some monitors, the resolution does not automatically go to the highest though their maximum resolutions are supported by NSR-500, and the resolution is configured as Auto. In such a case, please select the highest resolution at the Setup Menu. (M14:22)

・ Actual resolution in this machine and that of shown in the monitor's indicator or so may differ each other in some monitors. Please be aware of that. (M14:22)

・ If your monitor can’t display 1024x768 normally, the Booting screen and/or the Shutdown screen can’t be displayed normally. (M14:144)

・ When you change connections of monitors, make sure to execute the change while the power to the machine is off. The monitor may have trouble in display if you change connections while it is powered. Changing connections of monitors means such cases below: - Replacing a monitor connected to the HDMI monitor connector with another one. - Replacing a monitor connected to the monitor connector 2 with another one. - Disconnecting a monitor connected to the HDMI monitor connector, and connecting it to the monitor connector 2. - Disconnecting a monitor connected to the monitor connector 2, and connecting it to the HDMI monitor connector. If the monitor goes wrong in display by changing connections while the power is on, push the power switch twice, or reconnect the previous monitor and execute shutdown to turn the power down, and then change the connections to the monitors again. Through the procedures above, you can fix the problem.

(M15:256)

・ If you power the machine on with both HDMI monitor connector and monitor

NSR-500 Series V1.6.5 Release Note

- 13 -

connector 2 are disconnected, and connect a monitor to either connector, please note that the logon screen does not appear immediately. For a few seconds, it goes to the black-screen in case of HDMI monitor connector, or displays some messages in case of the monitor connector 2.(M15:266)

・ Do not connect two monitors together to both of the connectors, HDMI monitor and monitor 2. It may cause a trouble such as inability to display. In such a case, turn off the power of the main body by pushing the power switch twice, or by shutting down it, and then remove one of the monitors.(M15:266)

・ Some HDMI monitors can’t display normally at some resolutions, e.g. the whole screen becomes blue, even if the monitors support the resolutions. In such a case, turn off the power of the main body by pushing the power switch twice, and connect another monitor. Then, keep the monitor , or after changing the resolution and turning off the power of the main body, reconnect the original monitor.(M15:255)

・ When you use a television as a monitor, be sure to disable overscanning. The side edges of images cannot be displayed when overscanning is enabled.

・ NSBK-DH05 disables the deblocking filter. When you see video decoded by NSBK-DH05 on a big and bright screen, image noise may stand out. In such a case, we recommend lowering the brightness of the monitor.(M15:312)

3-1-2 Notes Concerned with Using NSBK-EB05 Analog Encoder Board

・ Do not start NSR-500 if any of channels connected via video input connectors has the signal of a video format different from the NSR-500 settings (configured on the [Video (Analog camera)] tab under [Setup Menu]). If NSR-500 is started with such connection and configuration, all monitor frames will display the message [VIDEO LOSS]. To display images of cameras properly, turn off NSR-500, input the signals of the same video format as configured in the Video settings, and restart NSR-500. Moreover, if it is during the operation of NSR-500 that a video format signal is changed to a different format from the

NSR-500 Series V1.6.5 Release Note

- 14 -

settings, only that channel will display [VIDEO LOSS]. To display images properly, you just need to change the video format signal back to the configured setting; you do not need to restart NSR-500. (M15:100,171)

・ It occurs very rarely that the images of NSBK-EB05 are not displayed and go to VIDEO LOSS at startup of NSR-500. Please check that the images of NSBK-EB05 when you start NSR-500, and restart it if needed. (M16:175)

3-1-3 Notes Concerned with Using HDMI Audio

・ If the system is so busy that a value of the display image per second does not reach the frame rate in each monitor frame, HDMI audio may sometimes break for a moment. The break does not affect recording data. To avoid the break, please reduce the load of the system by reducing the number of monitor frames or lowering the bit rate and/or the frame rate of cameras, or please use the AUDIO OUT (line out). (M15:310)

・ When you use HDMI audio, a beep tone configured in manual action or

schedule action may not sound normally, depending on your monitor, It sometimes may not sound at all and at other times it may sound for only a short time. The frequency of occurrence of this phenomenon depends on HDMI audio control of your HDMI monitor. To avoid this phenomenon, please use the AUDIO OUT (line out). (M15:319)

3-2 Device registration

・ The following characters cannot be used in camera name (attempt at input will be prohibited). (V11N:556)

¥ / : , ; * ? " < > | [ ]

・ The camera servers SNT-EX104/EX154/EP104/EP154 can have different IP addresses by the video channels in it. For this reason, when registering two or more camera servers by specifying the IP address with the automatic camera registration or multiple camera registration features, a group of continuous IP addresses cannot be assigned to the one camera server.

NSR-500 Series V1.6.5 Release Note

- 15 -

To prevent this, register a camera server one by one, or after specifying the IP addresses on the camera server in advance, register them with the multiple camera registration feature without specifying another IP address. (V11R:435)

・ When registering many (e.g. 64) cameras with Multiple Camera Registration

at one time, NSR performance becomes worse for a while. In such condition, if you log off NSR and log on again, it may fail. Please wait several minutes after registration. (V11N:461)

3-3 Main Window - Monitoring

・ Do not monitor camera images by a browser while Edge Storage function is active because fetching the images from the camera cannot work correctly in such a situation.

・ The DIRECT PTZ function is not supported on camera servers SNT-EX/EP series connected to analog cameras. To achieve this function, use the buttons in the Camera Control pane or the remote controller. (V11N:401)

・ If the system is so busy that a value of the display image per second does not

reach the frame rate in each monitor frame, video may delay a few seconds than real time and audio may become disordered to synchronize audio and video. The problem does not affect recording data. To avoid the problem, please reduce the load of the system by reducing the number of monitor frames or lowering the bit rate and/or the frame rate of cameras. (M15:310,M16:374)

3-4 Main Window - Play back control

・ If a number of alarms occur continuously, multiple alarms look like combined on the timeline. Although user may not know switching alarms even if user clicks next/previous alarm button, user can make sure that switching by displayed time on the monitor frame. (VT1:1865)

3-5 Alarm Notification / Alarm History

・ Alarm information during log off is not listed in the “Alarm History Pane”. To

confirm such information, press Open Log Window on the Main screen and select Event/Alarm from the Log Type.(VT1:1897)

・ When the SNT-V704 detects the sensor alarm, the number of channels

registered to the NSR-500 Series are listed in the alarm history at the bottom of the main GUI. (VT1:1707)

3-6 Search Window

・ Images which are recorded by Edge Storage function during manual recording and out of scheduled recording period will deleted without saving in the server. Furthermore, those cannot be played during downloading from the camera.

・ Up to 100 records which are searched in the search window can be deleted with selecting them at the same moment. Although user can select up to 100 records, it is recommended to select less than 100 records for stability behavior of the NSR-500 Series. Or retrieving might take much time. (VT1:1844)

3-7 Device Configuration

This section describes precautions on use of camera or setting. For other restrictions or precautions, refer to the User’s guide or release note for the camera.

・ If the codec of [Schedule Record], [Event/Alarm Record], and [Monitoring] are

set to JPEG, the framerate can be set to different value. At that time, if the framerate for [Schedule Record] or [Event/Alarm Record] is specified to a value lower than the framerate of received stream (*1), the specified framerate may not be achieved in JPEG frame sampling. To avoid this, please specify the framerate to the same value or specify it to a higher value than the target framerate. (V16R:296) (*1)Stream shall be sent with the highest framerate among the three

values. (*2) (*2)It's assumed that camera shall send the stream in the same framerate

as requested by this system.

・ When using Edge Storage function, please confirm the following notes. The Edge Storage function belongs to cameras and is restricted by its

specification. Please refer to the document of Cameras to get details; recordable period, condition of recording, and so on.

This function is unavailable when [Use Proxy] is configured in [General] tab of [Device] (camera) configuration.

The port number 554 is fixed for downloading recorded images from cameras to RealShot Manager Advanced. Images in the memory of cameras are deleted after completion of the downloading.Image1 is used for alarm recording and Image2 for schedule recording if video settings between Image1 and Image2 are deferent. In this case, the setting for Edge Storage prefers Image2, giving priority to the schedule setting.

Once this function is disabled, the setting in camera will also be disabled and all image data in the memory of the camera will be erased.

If you configure the system by [Auto Record Settings] of [Easy Setup], this function will be disabled both on the server and cameras.

When multiple networks are configured in [Configuration] [Server] [General] [Network], [Setup]-[Edge Storage]-[Monitored IP address] might not hold a proper value: the IP address of network to which the camera is connected. In such a case, edit rsmsystem.conf which exists in the installation folder of RealShot Manager Advanced, and configure the IP address of network to be monitored. Afterwards saving the configuration, you need to reboot the PC in which RealShot Manager Advanced is installed.

To use this function, Network1 must be used to connect cameras which have Edge Storage.

・ When using JPEG with image sizes in excess of 1280x720, frame rate settings can sometimes exceed the performance limitations of the camera. Please make settings after verifying the camera limitations. (V13R:384)

・ To use the alarm output function of a camera, enable it in the camera trigger

setting and make sure to set "Toggle Mode" through a web browser prior to use.

4-2-2 Limitations Concerned with Using NSBK-EB05 Analog Encoder Board

・ Cameras connected to SBK-EB05 (optional) cannot be automatically registered with the Camera Auto Registration function. (M15:201)

・ When a camera connected to NSBK-EB05 is configured with the VMD setting,

the camera detects any change in camera images caused by pan, tilt, or zoom movement as a moving object. (M15:205)

・ When selecting multiple cameras connected to NSBK-EB05 and opening the

Video tab on a client, you can simultaneously configure the same settings to the selected cameras. If the top of the selected cameras is any of Channel 1 to 4, the Audio Channel drop-down menu becomes active and Disable is selected on the Video tab regardless of the existing setting value. You can reselect an appropriate value from A1 to A4 in the Audio Channel menu; however, note that this value will be applied to the top camera only. (M15:212)

・ Rarely video and setting are mismatched using NSBK-EB05. In this case,

please apply correct video setting of NSBK-EB05 again. (M16:187)

4-2-3 Installation / System Configuration

・ Following connectors are used for future expansion: AUDIO IN.

Cameras’ list in ‘Open the Multiple Camera Registration Window’. In this case, please update the list with ‘Reload’ button. (VT1:764)

・ You cannot register a device at a server side which has same name as that

was deleted at a client side. Please logon the server again to execute the operation. Same trouble occurs when you delete devices on a server. You can register a device with the same name as deleted one by logging onto the client again.(M12:107) Note server: NSR-500 series, client: RealShot Manager Advanced client

・ When you use NSBK-DH05, GUI may terminate abnormally during registering camera operation. The termination does not affect any other processes, like recording images. Moreover, the logon screen appears after the termination. You can return to the main screen by logging on the system again. (M15:320)

・ SNC-xx600 series models do not appear in the model list of the [Add New

Device] dialog while they have not registered in the selected server. If you register a camera of the model by multiple registration or using "AutoConnect", the list will be updated after rebooting.(M16:168)

4-2-5 Main Window - Search and Play back

・ Search and playback Video which is downloaded from Edge Storage are not available in Main window. Please use Search window. (M16:41)

・ During quick playback, when clicking [Go] button after specifying nonexistent date and time on the main screen, a message “No Record” appears and the mode is restored from [PLAYBACK] to [LIVE].(V11N:20)

・ When playing back the images just before recorded while recording, playback

may pause within a few minutes. To resume playback, press the PLAY button. (V11N:25)

・ If you specify “iSCSI” as recording storage, and specify “00:00:00 to 24:00:00” for continuous recording, it takes more than ten minutes to load the recorded data since [PLAYBACK] is pressed. When you want to select “iSCSI” as recording storage, it is recommended to segment the record by setting a recording schedule that inserts a 1 -second recording break each day in the recurrent schedule of the normal recording. (V11N:38) e.g.) Start time: 00:00:00 End time: 23:59:59

4-2-6 Main Window - Monitoring

・ There is a problem that fps value decreases slightly each time recording starts/stops. This happens when a different video setting is made for the monitoring setting and scheduled recording setting. (V11R:625)

・ When focus or bright adjustment is carried out during recording, frame loss

may occur. (V11N:489)

・ If the hotspot and a Monitor Frame during PLAYBACK exist in one layout, when the Monitor Frame is selected, audio cannot be output. Please do PLAYBACK after selecting and activating the monitor frames other than the hot spot when it is an active monitor frame. (VT1:2247)

・ The value of Focus, Brightness and Day/Night in [Adjust] tab at [Camera

Control] pane are not updated when these values are changed from other clients or browser. (VT2:750) Note client: RealShot Manager Advanced client

・ Even if you select [MANUAL ACTION] in the Device menu, the manual action

list is not displayed on the NSR screen. To display the list, put the RM-NS1000 into the mouse mode, and select [Manual Action] in the Manual Action pane at the top right of the screen of NSR. (V11N:207) Note RM-NS1000: System Controller

・ When recording audio from a camera of which frame rate is set to less than 1fps,

you cannot play back audio in synchronization with image. For example, in case of 0.25fps, a four-second image is played back per a frame. On the other hand, with regard to audio, a one-second audio is repeatedly played back four times per a frame. (V11N:368)

・ Using the following cameras, monitoring images stops for a several seconds just

after the camera preset tour starts or stops. During the preset tour, the images can be received normally. (V11N:450, V14R:145)

SNC-RH series SNC-RS series SNC-EP series SNC-ER series

・ Adjustment of Bright(EV) is not available for SNC-xx600 series.(M16:146)

4-2-7 Analog Camera Control

・ Using Camera Control Pane or Remote Controller, do NOT perform PTZ/FOCUS/BRIGHT operations for analog cameras without PTZ function, although they look available. If you try to do accidentally, the system stops monitoring/recording images for a few seconds.(VT1:1895) There are the following restrictions for the analog camera that is supporting the PTZ function. (V11N:86, V11N:400) ・ Some analog cameras do not support the auto focus function. Use the

manual focus function for such cameras ・ The DIRECT PTZ function is not supported. To achieve this function, use

the buttons in the Camera Control pane or the remote controller. ・ If a mask to hide a specified area is configured on the screen, it is fixed and

does not move in conjunction with the camera’s pan, tilt and zoom movements. So do not use the mask function when you want to use the PTZ function of the camera.

When you want to know the trigger occurrence for certain, configure the alarm recording and confirm the trigger occurrence in the alarm history. (V11N:107)

4-2-13 Schedule Configuration

・ I In such a case that multiple alarm or event recordings triggered by the different kinds of alarm triggers (sensor-in/camera tamper detection/motion detection) are set in a same time zone, one trigger prevents the other recording starting while it remains the status ON. To avoid lacking a recording, make settings like the following. (V12R:57) ・ Don't create alarm recording schedules for each trigger. Create one

schedule for all triggers (check all events in schedule registration dialog).

・ When configuring a schedule for alarm recording, select [From Alarm End] in [Alarm Record End] setting.

・ When the scheduled recording is configured for the cameras or camera servers
