ENGLISH STRIDE PIANIST NEVILLE DICKIEEnglish stride and boogie woogie masterNeville Dickie, considered a British NationalTreasure, has played at the invitation ofanother master jazz pianist, Dick Hyman, forduet performances with him in New York.Nevilles style, described as showing offbefore the company, demands machine-gunspeed, flashy fingering and a powerful,accurate left hand his left hand speed andtotal accuracy will take your breath away.One of few British jazz pianists to haverecordings on the Hit Parade, he has playedhundreds of radio broadcasts over the BBC,both solo and with his trio. Always indemand all over the world, he regularly toursin Switzerland, France Belgium and Germany.Described as relaxed and self-confident,convivial, brash and sensitive at once, andremarkably versatile, Neville is able to evokethe styles of Fats Waller, Willie the LionSmith, James P. Johnson, Jelly Roll Morton,and other classic pianists, and capable ofdoing it phenomenally well.

Neville will be joined by New England jazz friendsStan McDonald on soprano saxophone and clarinet,Jeff Hughes on trumpet, and Steve Taddeo ondrums. The Blue Horizon Jazz Bands ownexceptional stride pianist Ross Petot will join in atNevilles request a piano duet, perhaps.
