From the Principal Dear Parents and Caregivers, Thank You: I would like to thank our learning community for the understanding, patience and support you showed while we dealt with the power outage yesterday. Your consideration was greatly appreciated. P&C Parking Bays: The parking tickets for these bays have expired and parents no longer have the right to park in the staff carpark. Due to the increase in our staffing, all bays in the staff carpark are to be utilised by staff only. Thank you for your consideration of this matter. Bollards: I have written numerous letters and spoken to people at the City of Armadale about placing bollards at the end of Princeton Street. At this point in time the City of Armadale do not believe there is a risk from traffic in Princeton Street to warrant the placement of traffic safety measures at the end of the street. I know many of you requested we get some bollards put in when we surveyed you last year. Unfortunately, the City of Armadale do not believe there is a risk. Cross Country: Congratulations to all participants in the Faction Cross Country last week. I commend Ms Johnston for the running of a great carnival and all staff who supported and helped on the day. To all students that ran on a very cold morning, you showed perseverance and resilience and I am very proud of you all. Despite a really close finish in the results, Martin was the winning faction on the day. Next Thursday is the Interschool Cross Country, Im sure you join me in wishing everyone a great day! Eagles Cup: Today is the last of the games for these winter sporting events. I am very proud of the way our students have participated and played in their various sports. They have demonstrated wonderful sportsmanship and a great team approach. Congratulations everyone! Thank you to the staff who have coached and supported the teams. Dalefest: Last Wednesday, I was fortunate enough to be able to watch our Junior Choir perform at the Junior Dalefest. These young people sang beautifully and I was very proud of their performance, well done everyone! Congratulations to Mrs Jones and thank you for all your efforts with these wonderful students. FROM THE DEPUTIES-Councillor report Week 7 - On Wednesday, all of the Junior Choir had their Dalefest and they represented our school awesomely! We are very proud of them. Thank you Junior Choir! Our students have been practising their song for a very long time. On Thursday, our students from Year 1 to Year 6 participated in the Faction Cross Country and everyone did super well and thanks to parents for coming out in the weather! On Friday, our students played our second last game of Interschool against Grovelands. Like always, our teams have great sportsmanship. From Noah and Link! Week 8 - On Friday 15 June, we had an assembly. We all would like to congratulate Room 12 for an amazing assembly! During the assembly, there were medals given out to our runner ups and champions from Cross Country. We honoured three amazing, long serving mentors in our school, serving for over 10 years. So a very special thanks to Mrs Choules, Mrs Jarratt and Mrs Wright. Next Friday, 21 June, we have Interschool, so good luck for all Interschool people as we have a home game versing Gwynne Park. Peace out, Jacinta and Rose!

SIZZLING SCIENCE SNIPPET

In Science, Room 13 have been learning about how living things depend on each other and the environment to survive. During our investigations we learnt that trees and plants are able to help and protect animals in so many different ways! Animals can use tree trunks for shelter, tree branches for nests and they can also use smaller plants on the ground to stay safe from predators. After lots of discus-sion and some research, we created a small diorama and discussed what types of animals could use our shelter and how they would use it. They all turned out amazing!

SPORT-Faction Cross Country

On Thursday 13 June, we held our Faction Cross-Country Carnival. Pre-primary students ran 100m, Year 1 and 2 ran 600m, Year 3 and 4 ran 1km and Year 5 and 6 ran 1.3km. A mighty effort, and one they should all be very proud of! A big thank you to all the staff for assisting in the lead up and on the day in various roles – we are very lucky to have such fantastic staff. Thank you to the P&C for their stall and constant support for carnivals and activities - it is always noticed and appreciated. Thank you to all the parents that attended and to those that also helped out, I was so happy to see so many of you supporting not just your own children but other children and our school as a whole. The biggest thank you goes to all the students who have been training so hard to improve and become confident in their cross country run. I am incredibly proud of everyone who participated, I know it is difficult and often dreaded, but the reason we do it is to say, ‘I can’ and 'I did’. We also witnessed so much sportsmanship and positive encouragement! I expect nothing less from our students here at CHPS, but it is always warming and encouraging to see. Well done to everyone who participated! The Interschool Cross-Country will be held on the 27 June at Willandra Primary School. Events are run as Junior (Year 1 and 2), Intermediate (Year 3 and 4) and Senior (Year 5 and 6). We take the fastest three students from each category and gender, based on times and re-runs (if we need to). This can sometimes mean that even though a student came first or second in their race in the Faction Cross Country, they may not necessarily go to Interschool. If you have any queries please call the front office.
