The Group is committed to acting fairly and properly in its dealings with all stakeholders and the directors are cognizant of the significant impact that environmental, social and governance matters may have on our business. We have set out below brief overviews of some areas of particular focus for the Group.

The Group continues to focus heavily on employee communication, development and retention. In 2010, the employee appraisal process continued to bring further focus to the personal development planning of employees, aligning personal objectives with those of the business, thus improving employee engagement at all levels within the business. We also want people to have a longer term stake in the Group’s performance and we continue to offer schemes that encourage share ownership amongst employees.

We are committed to communications from the top down and our Chief Executive attends employee consultation forums and induction meetings for all new head office staff. We strive to continually improve internal communications, promoting usage of the staff intranet and increasing the frequency of meetings of our head office employee communications groups.

In 2010, we introduced a series of employee information briefing sessions at our head office that promote awareness of other internal business units, advocate integration between teams and encourage communication and consultation across the Group.

Our dedicated in-house recruitment function continues to source the next generation of management talent through increased usage of our dedicated careers website ‘www.workwithpaddy.com’ and various

Our presence in the UK continued to grow apace in 2010, with the number of people working for the Group n the UK rising by 33% to 644. The number of staff employed in the Group increased by 13% over the course of the year to 2,574 including our Australian business.

How the Graduate Programme at Paddy Power works

How it works?

• Successful candidates will join on an initial 18 month contract

• You will complete a number of 4-6 month rotations around the core areas of either: Online or Brand Marketing

• In the Online Programme you will have the opportunity to work in: eGaming, Online Development, Online Sportsbook, Online Marketing Operations and Online Operations.

• In the Brand Marketing Programme you will have the opportunity to work in: Brand Management; PR & Communications; CRM & Direct Response Marketing, Retail and Sponsorship

• Personal work objectives will be set for each rotation to ensure you gain maximum benefit

• Feedback will be provided after each rotation to assist you in your ongoing career development and eventual chosen business area.

Online Programme:In the Online Programme you will have the opportunity to work in 5 key areas of our online business:  eGaming, Online Development, Online Sportsbook, Online Marketing Operations and Online Operations.

EGaming

The EGaming Team consists of 5 main areas: Casino, Poker, Games, Bingo and Customer Analytics. There are currently over 45 staff with each team being made up of Marketing and Operations staff. It’s never a dull moment and there’s never a shortage of interesting work!

Paddy Power Casino

Paddy Power Casino was launched in 2004. We’ve recently upgraded the casino and we are now home to 200+ games, including some of the world’s most popular online casino games, Incredible Hulk™, King Kong™, Pink Panther™ and Gladiator™. We operate both flash and download clients. Paddy Power Live Casino was launched in 2009 and presents players a 24/7 Live Casino experience. We offer Blackjack, Roulette and Baccarat and players can chat to our live dealers in real time.

Paddy Power Poker

Paddy Power Poker was launched in 2005 with a variety of games such as Chinese Poker, Hold’em, Seven-Card Stud Hi, Omaha Hi and Hi-Lo with both ring games and multi-table tournaments offered.  Live Events include:  The Irish Open and The Paddy Power Poker Irish Winter Festival.  Players from all over the globe travel to compete for an estimated festival prize pool of €2M+ across the two events. The Paddy Power Poker team is a team of 8 including 2 Operations staff, 3 in Marketing and 1 person managing the events all reporting to the Poker P&L Manager. We are a seasoned team with collectively almost 40 years of experience working in online, with diverse multi-national backgrounds, and previous experience from a range of leading companies.

Paddy Power Games

Paddy Power Games Born in 2004, Paddy Power Games arrived on the scene sporting a modest selection of three games. Over the past 8 years, the site has evolved into an all-singing, all-dancing gaming emporium, offering a broad portfolio of over 250 slots, blackjack, roulette and TV games. Paddy Power Games continues to add to an already impressive selection of games on a weekly basis and there are many exciting developments and features due to arrive in 2012 which we’re sure will delight any games player.

Paddy Power Bingo

Paddy Power Bingo launched in June 2006.  Bingo is the only e-gaming product that has been designed to appeal to a female audience and consequently in appearance is very different from the other channels.   Since May 2009 Bingo has operated from the Virtue Fusion platform, which is the largest Bingo Network in the world.  Our offering includes 12 bingo rooms, with multiple bingo variants, over 100 side games, social chat and a market leading loyalty programme. Paddy Power bingo is the fastest growing of the e-gaming channels and we are seeing double digit growth year on year. The future is bright for Bingo! 

Customer Analytics

Customer Analytics is part of the eGaming division and works very closely with each eGaming product. The unit’s goal is to deliver customized analytics that drive marketing Return On Investment and improve our customer experiences. CAT is a tool to drive our business farther, faster & smarter. Our job is to transform business transactions data into a comprehensive compass for guiding and driving our key business decisions.

Our analysts will perform extensive data mining exercises to gain insights that are then translated into operational intelligence and ultimately into executable marketing strategies. We help the eGaming products connect the right offers to the right customer segments. Our job is then to measure everything we do to ensure better business decisions and calculate Return on Investment for our services. The unit gets also involved in numerous areas of the business, from Finance in Head Office all the way over to UK retail.

Online Development:The Online Development team in Paddy Power is responsible for product development for our Online Business units (eGaming) and the Dial-A-Bet operation. The team currently has over 50 staff across fi ve main areas: business analysis, user experience, project management, graphic design and the Betdash team. Our mandate is to enable our online business more effectively retail their products. This is achieved by delivering development projects which add features to our customer facing products and back offi ce systems.

• Using their product and technical knowledge, our business Analysts work very closely with our online operations team (e.g. Sportsbook, eGaming, Traders etc.) to produce detailed specifi cations to enhance the online products and services. They maintain our product roadmaps and are essential in delivering projects onto our live production environments.

• The PM group provide project management for all of our software development releases. They are responsible for pulling together the various components, artefacts and deliverables from all internal teams and 3rd parties involved in our Sportsbook, eGaming and Web Development releases.

• Our Usability Experience team consists of a number of UX specialists whose responsibility it is to ensure the customer gets the best possible experience when they are interacting with Paddy Power online.

• Our Graphic Design team provides services to both our online and print media channels. The team currently consists of web design, creative, production and print designers who provide artwork and design assets to all of our online environments. They are involved in development projects; email design; multi-media; online and print advertising; print brochures and merchandise.

Online Sportsbook:

Online Sportsbook was launched in Ireland in June 2000, with entry in to the UK in March 2001. Since then it’s gone from strength to strength and established itself as one of the Top 5 online bookmakers in the UK. We are now aiming for World domination, starting with Australia where we recently acquired a controlling stake in their biggest corporate bookmaker Sportsbet in Australia in 2010.

Online Marketing Operations:

Online Marketing is one of the fastest growing teams in Paddy Power with over 28 staff across the division. Covering all of our online products, they’re responsible for online acquisition – Sportsbook, Casino, Poker, Games and Bingo. Over the last few years, the number of new customers choosing Paddy Power over our competitors has increased hugely, and continues to do so – but were not stopping there – we want more! And we’d like you to help us by joining the team at the cutting edge of the business!

We’ve developed and streamlined our processes to ensure our online presence is as good and effective as we can make it, through Affi liates, Pay Per Click, Search Engine Optimisation, Facebook and Display Advertising, but we wouldn’t be the world’s best online bookie if we thought we were done – and that’s why we want you! We’re looking for the brightest minds and the most innovative thinkers to help our quest for global domination.

Online Operations:

Paddy Power.com is made up of a number of different departments. Each department is relatively independent but they all require the use of certain functions

• Customer Registration – Enabling customers to play on all of our websites from Sportsbook to Bingo

• Customer Payments – Enabling Deposits and withdrawals from the likes of PayPal and Debit Card on all platforms including our mobile apps

• Customer Security – Preventing fraud, bonus abuse, Money Laundering etc through the use of some of the most cutting edge technology in the business

• Customer Experience – Having a good Experience at paddypower.com doesn’t happen by accident. Delivering a superb experience through our support and dedication to our customers is what we do better than anyone else

Online Operations control these shared functions and due to our wide breath of responsibilities we get insight into every facet of the business. We work with every internal team in the business and own relationships with international organisations such as Barclays and PayPal.

We develop and innovate through our own Development function whose job it is to produce solutions on behalf of everyone in the team. Online Sportsbook has achieved this growth through focus on fairness to the punter, value and product innovation. The Paddy Power Marketing Team has over 15 staff between its Dublin and London Offices and this team will continue to grow. The team is responsible for delivering a plethora of memorable campaigns and events over the past two decades which have grabbed attention from around the globe. As a Team, we take fun very seriously. Our goal is to position betting as entertainment and to make betting with Paddy Power an all encompassing experience that means a lot more than simply winning or losing money. We cover the entire marketing mix, and have individual teams that work across all marketing functions - namely: Brand Management; PR & Communications; Retail; Sponsorship; CRM; Direct Response (Above the Line and Below the Line, Online and Offline).The Team provides services to the individual business units within the Group, as well as working centrally to build the overall Paddy Power brand. Our team strives to deliver memorable marketing campaigns, pushing boundaries all the time, such campaigns include: 

• This year, we created somewhat of a stir by hiring jilted mistress Imogen Thomas to promote our Champions League Final money back special.

• Attempting to erect a giant Hollywood style Paddy Power sign during last years Ryder Cup which didn’t go down too well with field owners.

• Setting up a betting pitch in the Vatican to take bets on who would be the new pontiff. Paddy’s escapades in Vatican City generated global interest and bets from punters in over 50 countries on paddypower.com.

• Tongan rugby player Epi Taione changed his name to Paddy Power for the Rugby World Cup to highlight Paddy Power’s sponsorship of the Tongan Team. The IRB vetoed the stunt so the entire Tongan team dyed their hair green in support of Ireland’s biggest bookie!
