PRODUCT SOLUTION

Identifies Opens and Shorts: Displays opens and shorts as events within inches of the fault. Thislightweight, hand-held, easy-to-use tester operates approximately 22 hours with six AA batteriesdepending on backlight usage.

Easy To Use: Minimal training is required to operate unit - suitable for technicians with little or noprevious Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR) experience. An Auto TDR function in the tester hasthe capability to provide main event detection on opens, shorts and events. This function isparticularly valuable to the inexperienced user as the tester provides main event detection withouthaving to analyze the wiring trace. The 3M 900AST uses standard multimeter leads for testing andcan be connected to most standard wiring connectors. On screen wiring connection diagrams aid intest accomplishment.

Locates Faults: The 3M 900AST can identify faults within inches of the fault. The TDR wire traceand events are displayed on the screen. It can record events and compare them (i.e. record the wiretrace of one aircraft and compare it against another aircraft). This meter performs Volt, Ohm andResistive Fault Locate (RFL) functional tests as well. A built in load test function works just like acommon lamp test.

Provides the Distance to Shorts and Opens: The 3M 900AST uses a patented process to calculate the

distance to a short or a partial short. The tester uses advanced time domain reflectrometery to show the

distance to an open circuit.

Rugged Weather-Resistant Design: The handheld 3M 900AST is housed in a lightweight soft case

for portability and ease of use. The unit is weather-resistant, durable and weighs only four pounds with

test leads, batteries and soft case included. The protective soft case neatly stores the leads in a zippered

pouch and includes a convenient hook from which to hang the unit during testing.

Helps Reduce Maintenance Costs: The 3M 900AST has the multimeter functions most commonly

used in troubleshooting aircraft wiring plus the ability to find shorts and opens all in one tester. The RFL

function is a powerful and extremely accurate method of determining the location of shorts. The contact

resistance function displays resistance values on wires, contacts and splices to three decimal points.

The 3M 900AST measures AC and DC voltage, conductor and insulation resistance with

foreign voltage compensation capability, and capacitance. It can also conduct soak test

measurements - extended period resistance measurements that can expose moisture or

corrosion-induced faults–as well as a four-wire precision contact resistance measurement.

This multi-functional test set can even simulate a load lamp and provide an interrupted ID

tone for locating a particular wire. Coupled with its RFL and TDR functions, the

900AST tester is the total solution for avionics maintenance wiring problems.
