Its been a busy six months since my last newsletter and so this will be the joint spring / summer edition!
Back in March, I exhibited at the Expat Expo in Zug once again - thank you to all of you who came by and visited my stand! I will be at the next Expat Expo taking place in Zurich on Sunday 6 September so mark your diaries now for another great event. This will take place at the Kongresshaus in Zurich and there will be over 100 businesses exhibiting and as always there will be many giveaways on the day (I will be giving away a private tuition lesson on your own camera worth CHF 160 so come by my stand and leave your details in the bucket for a chance to win). We also held a “style and shoot” drinks party in May at the studio where a lucky winner was given a makeover and a corporate business shoot. You can find out more about business portraits here and here.

It has been a wonderfully busy time with shoots ranging from school groups of 170, school proms and graduations, business portraits in and out of the studio as well as families wanting to take advantage of the lovely weather outdoors. I have also photographed many families who are now moving on to another country and wanted to capture some special memories before they leave.
Moments I will remember this summer are being stung by a vicious bee during a shoot (typically just when the family were set up on a picnic blanket and I was about to take the shot), photographing some corporate head shots for a business owner’s website in Zug where there is a large community of frogs close by who “croaked” the entire shoot, realising early into a shoot that I may have hay fever after all and getting bitten by a lot mosquitoes when photographing in an overgrown field (and yes, I did check for ticks afterwards too … )
So I have decided that it is definitely time for a break and the studio will be closed from Monday 13 July until Monday 10 August. Emails will be checked every three days during this time. I hope you enjoy a break with your families and friends too and have a wonderful summer!

Photo Shoot Spotlight -
TEDxZurichWomen
In May this year, the first ever TEDxZurichWomen took place in Zurich at the Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized - http://www.ted.com/tedx

4times Kids Boutique
4 Times Kids Boutique is a treasure trove of gifts, clothes and party accessories in Hirzel between Zug and Zurich. (www.4times.ch)
Run by owner Anita Douw-Santana who is South African and who sources her merchandise from all over the world, it truly is difficult to leave empty-handed! Brands include Keedo, Krasilnikoff, 3 Sprouts, Sass&Belle, Meri Meri, Pink Lining, Lou Harvey, Bou’chook, Bade Fee, Cath Kidston, Die Spiegelburg, RICE, Coppenrath, Le Toy Van and many more. Pop-up stores and events are organized regularly so its worth subscribing to their newsletter here. Anita also has an online store.
Note for your diary: mini-Christmas family shoots will take place on 8/9 November (date to be confirmed) at the store. This is the ideal opportunity if you want some Christmas card images - when we did this last, the day was booked out with babies, families and teenagers booking in for 15-minute shoots. Props included presents, baubles, a large elk, fake snow and a sledge! Please contact me if you are interested in booking in a slot.

Photo Tuition Do you have a new camera and aren’t really sure how to use it or just want to know how to take better photos? Then this is ideal for you - we will look at different settings on your camera, talk about the differences between ISO, shutter speed and aperture and then go outside to practice. What you have learnt. These can also be tailor- made to suit your needs. Tuition will take place at the studio in Baar and then we will go outside to practice. These sessions make ideal gifts. 160 CHF for a private 2 hour session + snacks and drinks (1-2 people)480 CHF for group tuition for 3 hours + snacks and drinks (4-6 people)
Make-up and photography sessions Nicole Eichler is available to do on-site / on-location make-up before photo shoots - please contact me if you are interested in doing this for a corporate or family shoot or shoot with friends. Prices start from 50 CHF and start 30-45 minutes before the shoot starts.
Monthly Corporate Shoot Sessions There will be three drop-in corporate shoot studio sessions taking place on:
Monday 7th September (08-30-19.00) Thursday 22nd October (08.30-19.00) Friday 20th November (08.30-19.00)
On this day for the special rate of 75 CHF, you may drop in to the studio without an appointment and have a 10 minute shoot. A retouched digital file is also included (if there is no-one waiting, you can choose it on the day or by private gallery afterwards). Additional files can be purchased for 25 CHF per high-res file.

Business Head Shots
Something everyone needs from time to time is an updated business photo which can be used for social media or when applying for jobs. This can either be done at the studio with a white, blue or black background (I also have grey, purple, brown…) or at your office (I can bring lights and a background with me or we can just use the office background). What is also increasingly popular is to go outside for more natural, contemporary business images. Often when planning these shoots, I ask you more about your business, your website, what you do and what you want to portray. I also give advice on what to wear and bring and ideas on where the shoot can take place. You can find out more on how to prepare for a corporate shoot here.
