Car Loans - More than just Low Rates!Summer is a great time to go car shopping. If you’re looking for a used car there is no better season to check the all-important air conditioning. New car shoppers can get a bargain because dealers are eager to clear space for the new fall models. New or used, Class Act has great deals on all types of auto loans. Yes, we offer rates as low as 1.99%* APR but members save in other ways too. For instance, our GAP coverage costs hundreds of dollars less than that offered at dealerships, and has more valuable features including a $1,000 deductible reimbursement and a $1,000 credit toward the purchase of your next vehicle when you finance that car at Class Act. Another way members save by financing their cars here instead of at the dealership is on miscellaneous fees. Class Act doesn’t charge any application fees or credit check fees. And unlike other lenders, our car loans never include any penalties for early payoff, which will save you money later should you decide to trade-in before the loan is paid. Most importantly, our member relations officers work to get members a loan they can easily afford with payments that fit their individual budgets. If you plan to shop for a car this summer, start by getting pre-approved for your car loan first before shopping. Pre-approved shoppers have more power when negotiating on price and can easily walk to the next dealership with their pre-approval in hand to get the car and the deal they are looking for. Call us at 502.964.7575 or apply online at www.classact.org.
*Annual Percentage Rate. 1.99% rate offered on new or used (2015 and newer) vehicles, subject to credit approval on terms to 60 months, includes .25% discount for CAFCU checking with direct deposit, and .25% discount for automatic payments. Other rates and terms available. Payment illustration: 60 monthly payments of $351 on $20,000 loan amount at 1.99% APR. Rates subject to change. Not available for refinance of existing CAFCU loans.

CONNECT WITH US
Share the Love!If you value your credit union membership, why not share it? Your status as a Class Act member also makes every member of your immediate family eligible to join too. Your brothers, sisters, children, and parents – even grandchildren and grandparents are eligible, so please invite them to share in the many benefits of YOUR credit union. Our new youth accounts are tailored for any age and have age-appropriate newsletters and online content to help children and teens learn smart money habits. Your adult family members may appreciate earning 4.0% APY with Honors Checking, or lowering their car payments by refinancing their auto loan with us. On average, Class Act households save $300 per year and we think that’s worth sharing. A recommendation from a trusted friend or loved one is more effective than any marketing budget. Thanks for sharing!
Debit Card Limits To protect the credit union and its members’ checking account balances, Class Act has daily limits on debit card usage. The limits we have in place on debit cards are $1,000 for purchases, and a $500 limit for ATM withdrawals per day. Our policy isn’t unusual; most financial institutions have them. To allow some flexibility we do allow members to request a temporary increase to cover a large one-time purchase (appliance, car repair, etc.) for a small $5 fee. Our policy also allows members to request a permanent increase (not to exceed $3,000) on a case by case basis, and requires a manager’s approval based on the member’s longevity and account history. There is no fee for this service. Because federal regulations afford greater fraud protection for credit cards, we encourage members to use their Class Act Visa credit card instead of our debit card when making large purchases. By doing so, you not only save the $5 fee for a temporary increase, you also earn 1% cash back. Later, simply log in to home banking or the mobile app and transfer funds from checking to the credit card before the credit card due date to avoid paying any interest on the purchase. That’s one more way to get Straight A’s for your Money!
5/5 Mortgage Is Here!Imagine being able to buy a home with only 5% down without having to pay any dreaded private mortgage insurance (PMI). Class Act is happy to announce the addition of 5/5 mortgages to give our members those exact benefits and more. Our 5/5 mortgage is an adjustable rate mortgage for terms of 10 to 30 years. The initial rate remains constant for a full five years, and then adjusts (up or down) after each 5 year period to the LIBOR- indexed market rate at that time. To protect members from sudden large increases, we’ve placed limits so that the rate cannot be raised more than 2% for any one adjustment period, with a 6% cumulative lifetime cap on rate hikes. At today’s rates (as low as 3.50%) members are assured that the rate will not go up more than 2% for ten years. The 5/5 mortgage is well-suited for first time buyers and for those who don’t plan to stay at that house for more than 10 years. Call 502.964.7575 to speak with one of our mortgage loan specialists to see if our new 5/5 mortgage is right for you.

Being an education-based credit union that caters primarily to teachers and other school employees, we know just how much our members love their summer break. It’s a well-deserved and all too short respite from their hectic school schedules. For us at the credit union, it’s quite the opposite. Summer is our busiest season, but we love it just as much as our members do. The summer affords members the opportunity to come to the credit union to tend to things they may not have had time to do during the school year. It’s the perfect time to open a Kirby Kangaroo savings account for each of your children or grandchildren, or maybe even a tax advantaged Educational Savings Account to help prepare for college. If you have teenage children, consider opening a Student Honors checking account – we’ll even make
their first $25 deposit as our gift to them. Summer is also a great time to refinance your home, or to get a new car. Whatever your financial need, we are eager to help in every way possible.
Summer is also a good time to make changes to improve your finances. For the past two years, an independent study showed that Class Act families on average save $300 per year simply by banking here. We are quite proud of that, but the same studies also revealed that “high-usage” households saved a whopping $1,100 per year. Although savings were across the board, three areas stood out as providing the greatest savings for our members - credit cards, auto loans, and not surprisingly Honors Checking. Members who do not have these products may be missing out on the most valuable benefits of being a Class Act member.
Summer would also be a good time to tend to any credit union “housekeeping” matters such as updating addresses or other contact info. Download our mobile app and try SnapDeposit to deposit checks remotely 24/7. It’s also a good time to review your credit. We offer one on one credit reviews by appointment (see attached flap). Most of all summer is a time to relax and have fun. I wish each of you a safe and happy summer break. We look forward to seeing you before school starts back this fall.

Kudos to Ashley!Congratulations to our very own Ashley Bean who was recently recognized by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) by awarding her a Certificate of Excellence for her CUNA Management School project. Ashley was just one of five in the class of 50 to receive a perfect score. Moreover, one of the judges made mention that Ashley’s project was “the best she had ever seen.” Ashley’s project was a detailed description of Class Act’s current status, and an analysis of our major competitors. She developed specific short-term and long-term goals and action plans as part of her project. We are quite proud of Ashley. She is a valuable asset to YOUR credit union. Please join us in celebrating her achievement.Ashley Bean is presented with a certificate from Kentucky

Volunteers Needed! Help Transform the Lives of our Inner City Youth!Louisville TKO is a non-profit that uses boxing as a draw to get our children off the streets and into a purposeful setting. Louisville TKO requires its students to maintain at least a 2.5 GPA to compete in matches. In order to achieve this goal they are developing a tutoring program serving ages 8-25 that will begin with the 2016-17 school year. YOUR expertise is needed to make this happen. Volunteer today by emailing Cindy Potts at [email protected]. Check out their website at www.louisvilletko.org for more information about the organization. Together the CLASS ACT community can change lives!
Overdraft Protection SimplifiedOne of our Facebook fans recently asked us to explain our four overdraft protection options: Opt-in, Courtesy Pay, Automatic Transfer, and Overdraft Line of Credit.
• Opting in refers only to debit card purchases and ATM transactions. When a member “opts-in” he or she authorizes the credit union to cover those transactions even though there isn’t enough money in their account. When that happens, the credit union pays the item, allows the account to go negative, and charges a $33 fee.
• Courtesy Pay is very similar but pertains to all other types of transactions, primarily paper checks and ACH transactions.
Members do not need to request this service. Instead the credit union extends it automatically to members in good standing 60 days after joining the credit union. We pay the item, allow the account to go negative and charge a $33 fee.
• Automatic Transfer is a service extended to all members. As long as funds are available, the credit union will automatically transfer funds from savings to cover an item that would otherwise overdraw the checking account. For this service we charge only a nominal $3 fee – saving the member $30. It pays to keep money in savings!
• Overdraft line of credit is as the name suggests is a line of credit loan that will advance funds as necessary to cover any would-be overdraft (subject to the available credit limit). This is often the least expensive means of overdraft protection. It costs nothing to set up, and there is no monthly or annual fee. Members pay only simply interest on the amount advanced until paid. For instance, an advance of $100 that is repaid 30 days later would cost the member a mere $1.25 in interest.
We allow members to utilize any or all of these overdraft protection options, and we even allow you to choose the order in which they are to be used. Call us or speak to your favorite Member Relations Officer on your next visit. They’ll be happy to build the overdraft system that best suits your individual needs.
