? What was your favourite part of
this training?
I can’t pick it was ALL GREAT!
All of it.
Hands on learning
It was clear and concise. My favourite part of the program is all the resources you provided for us.
How many stars would you
give this training? (So far we have all 5’s. Yay!)
• 5/5. This training is excellent. I feel more confident to support students with diverse learning needs within my classroom
Did you enjoy the online
video format?
YES - most definitely.
Yes, this was really helpful to develop my understanding of the concepts being presented
How likely would you be to recommend
this training to other educators?
Highly likely – I believe this type of training should be implemented on all classrooms as it caters to the needs of all students and not just those with SpLD.
Highly likely – I have already recommended this training! I am loving all the resources and the clear message.
What was your biggest learning from this part of the training?
The checklists to profile students learning challenges.
Being active while you learn is the best way to store information in your long-term memory.
I love the examples and pro-forma’s of the IEP’s and will find them very useful in my work. I think my biggest learning has been to keep IEP’s simple!
The importance of chunking tasks down and giving clear specific instructions. Ways to become aware of children who struggle with weak working memory. Once again, the importance of focusing on the strengths!
The importance of incorporating all three learning styles – visual, kinaesthetic and auditory, in order to enhance learning for all students in your class because all the children learn differently. Ask your students which style they like best and focus on the strength of each child.
To understand that each child learns differently and that is important to look at the whole picture of the child when assessing a child’s learning needs. Also to realise that behavioural issues are often associated with the child’s struggle to learn. To speak to both parents and the students themselves to get a well-rounded view. This will help to determine your student strengths and allow you to focus on these as opposed to focusing on weaknesses. We must try to give them the opportunity to shine in their areas of strength.
