The Kentucky Center for African American Heritage Presents:
James Pate’s KKK Series Kin Killin’ Kin Thru Monday, November 12 1701 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd.
FREE & open to the public!!
Please attend and spread the word about the Youth Voices Against Violence Forum held at Kentucky Center for African American Heritage on Saturday, November 3, 1:00 - 3:00 pm. This panel of youth will examine the themes of gun violence within the context of public health, bystander action, healing through arts, and mobilizing for change through community dialogues. The exhibition Kin Killin’ Kin is a striking visual experience exploring youth violence communities. Artist James Pate uses charcoal to create compelling vis-ual scenes combining the iconography of the Ku Klux Klan, the Civil Rights Movement, and all too familiar images of violence. Pate’s artwork places the viewer inside the acts of violence and the conversation, demanding their attention and reflection on the challenges, causes, and insidious nature of violence. This exhibit is appropriate for ages 13 and up.

ConfIDent in KY Facts for new IDs
In October 2020, standard licenses will no longer meet federal REAL ID requirements for Kentuckians to board U.S. flights or enter select federal facilities and military bases. Kentucky’s new Voluntary Travel ID will offer residents an affordable and convenient single credential to board flights and enter federal facilities, such as military bases and nuclear power plants. The issuance of all driver’s licenses and personal identification cards will move from on-site production at Circuit Court Clerk locations to one central, secure location. This transition, in addition to state-of-the-art card security features, will reduce the risk of fraudulent use and the unlawful reproduction of these identity credentials. The change will take effect in early 2019 at select Circuit Court Clerk locations and will extend to all 120 counties by late spring. The renewal cycle of licenses and personal IDs will be moving from a four-year to an eight-year lifespan. First-time applicants requesting a new standard driver’s license must present one (1) proof of identity, one (1) proof of social security and one (1) proof of residency. You will not immediately need a Voluntary Travel ID for air travel to any U.S. state or territory or for access to restricted federal facilities as long as your current license doesn’t expire before October 10, 2019. For more information visit drive.ky.gov.
