Ordinary Time! All the big celebrations are done for a while, and we return to green
as the color in church… a time called “ordinary.” But where we live most of our lives is anything but ordinary. Our busy-ness, whether from farming, rodeo weekend, showing cattle or trying to get a garden going, all force us to make choices and to have our priorities in order. In today’s gospel from Luke, Jesus teaches us to be forward thinking— and not stay in the past. We are called to freedom, and that freedom has its foundation in love. When we “set our hand to the plow” we cannot look backwards! In Galatians Paul reminds us “But if you go on biting and devouring one another, beware that you are not consumed by one another.” (Gal 5:15) We are encouraged to live by the Spirit, “loving our neighbor as ourselves.” (Gal 5:14) As we move into more summer-like days, we pray for the grace and the courage to let go of anything which causes us to devour each other, and to look forward in faith, in hope and in love!

Engaged? Are You Starting to Plan Your Wedding? Terr ific! The Church is excited to assist you in preparing for your lifelong commitment! Some quick points to be aware of:
• Marriage preparation usually begins at least six months prior to a desired wedding date.
• No dates are scheduled until the couple meets with the pastor and fills out the necessary documents for marriage.
• If one or both have been in a previous marriage regardless of denomination or marriage by a justice of the peace, a Decree of Nullity (Annulment) will need to be obtained.
The best thing to do is contact the Church as soon as you are engaged so that we can help you right from the start!
THE POWER OF DAILY MASS BY BERT GHEZZI
REFLECTIONS OF DAILY ATTENDEES
“Arriving early for Mass allows me to get an hour with God.” ~Geraldine G.~
“The greatest benefit of daily Mass has been the closeness I’ve felt to the Lord. It’s difficult to drift away from Him, spiritually or morally, when you unite with him each morning, body to body, soul to soul. Daily Mass has become an anchor in my life that keeps me from sailing off to a ‘distant country.’” See Luke 15:13) ~Brandon V~

An Independence Day Prayer
God of justice and Lord of all, you guide all creation with fatherly care.
On this Independence Day, we recall the day when our country claimed its
place among the family of nations.
You reveal that those who work for peace will be called
your sons and daughters.
Continue to send your Spirit to touch the hearts and minds of all who cherish the rights
to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
And as you have called us to be one nation, grant that under your
providence our country may share your blessings with all the peoples
of the earth.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen (from the Priests of the Sacred Heart)
SUMMER VACATION and Schedules need to include our regular weekly worship. Our ability to work and to play are all part of the great gifts of God. Please plan ahead when travelling
to locate a church (www.masstimes.org.) as well as fulfilling your liturgical ministry roles. Christ never takes a vacation from us, our praise should do the same!

I want to extend a very special thank you to the choir, the crafters, the St. Joseph Parish community, and all those who attended my retirement reception. I was overwhelmed by your generosity of time and talent in organizing that event! Thank you for the many cards, gifts, great food, and your presence. (The “sung grace” was definitely a highlight!) It was a very special evening that I will always remember. It has been a privilege and an honor to serve as your choir director for the past 24 years. Thank you for giving me that opportunity.
