Renown Health was founded in 1862 as a clinic to treat an outbreak of smallpox among miners . We’ve been taking care of our community ever since . Today Renown is Nevada’s largest locally-governed, not-for-profit healthcare network . As a not-for-profit healthcare network, all of our earnings stay right here and are reinvested back into the community through programs, people and equipment to better serve Nevada .

Introduction to Renown

How I contribute to Renown’s mission to make a genuine difference in the health and well-being of the people and communities we serve:

• Hometown Health

• Renown Medical Group:

Everything we do is centered around the people we serve . Our Mission, Vision and Values are words we live by everyday with every person . We do this through modeling a Just Culture and focusing on continuous improvement . We C .A .R .E . is our cultural compass that defines the behaviors associated with our values and these behaviors are what we expect from everyone in our organization .

Our Service Behaviors• I use the 10-5 rule

• I reassure guests that we will take very good care of them

• I stay off my cell phone while in meetings and “on-stage” areas

• I use purposeful rounding with guests and employees

• I provide comfort and resources before being asked

• I escort others to their destinations

• I explain information so others understand the next step in their process and how long it will take

• I own problems, take responsibility and resolve issues

• I provide clear explanations and validate understanding

• I conclude every interaction with sincere thanks and appreciation

• I use peer-to-peer guidance to support a culture of excellence

Notes

A Just Culture Includes

• Creating an environment where all employees will speak up when they see a potential safety risk or error without fear of punitive consequences .

• A focus on the behaviors that lead to a potential safety event (human error, at-risk behavior, reckless behavior) not just the outcome of the event .

• Holding us all accountable for our performance in accordance with job responsibilities .

• Encouraging peer-to-peer guidance to stop errors or at-risk behaviors and supporting our colleagues when mistakes are made .

• Living our values of caring, collaboration, integrity and excellence .

Just Culture focuses on the behavioral choices made by our employees and the degree of risk-taking behavior that resulted in an error . It holds us accountable if we make unsafe or reckless choices that endanger our patients, employees or visitors and also accounts for systems and processes that may have contributed to the error .

Transformational Health Care is Renown’s program for continuous improvement. It gives everyone in our organization the tools - and more importantly, the voice - to challenge the status quo.

• We can always do better for our patients.

• How do we get to the root cause of waste? Ask “Why?” 5 times!

• How can you be a champion of work in your department?

Collaboration

Renown Health, with our partners, inspires better health in our communities . Key partnerships are crucial to this vision . Here are just a few examples of how we put this into practice:

Children’s Miracle Network

As the only dedicated children’s hospital in the region, we are proud to partner with the Children’s Miracle Network to support a full range of pediatric services to the community .

Northern Nevada HOPES

Northern Nevada HOPES is a nonprofi t community health center in downtown Reno offering integrated medical care and wellness services to the insured and uninsured in our community .

Be sure to visit Inside Renown to learn more about additional opportunities to bring our vision to life!

Community Initiatives

We don’t do it alone! We are proud of our partnerships with:

Stanford Health Care, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and Stanford University School of Medicine

This landmark affi liation opens doors to care for northern Nevadans when they need it the most . We provide patients and their families greater access to highly specialized services and clinical trials with world-class providers and researchers .

REMSA

In 2016, Renown Health and REMSA announced an innovative alliance to improve health throughout the region through Community Health Programs . The programs, including the Nurse Health Line, the Community Paramedicine Program and the Alternative Destination Transport Program, improve quality of care and access while reducing out of pocket expenses for patients .

Get Involved

| 20 | | 21 |

Healthy Nevada ProjectThe Healthy Nevada Project is a nationally recognized DNA population health study helping our community understand their genetics and how it affects their health and lifestyle habits . This large initiative is the focus of Renown Health’s Institute for Health Innovation .

“Healthcare organizations around the country are moving from solely providing care inside hospital walls to improving health outcomes across communities . It starts with health literacy and this is the largest health literacy project in the country . We are helping people understand their risks and getting involved at the clinical level to help them live healthier lives,” says Tony Slonim, MD, DrPH, FACHE, President and CEO of Renown Health .

By participating in the Healthy Nevada Project, participants are informed of their genetic risk for certain cancers and cardiovascular diseases . It is offered to all Nevadans over age 18 at no cost . Early detection of genetic risk is an important step to prevention and a healthier life .

It’s important to note that no personal genetic information will be shared with healthcare providers unless done so by you, the participant .

4. The maximum charge amount is $200 per pay period. The full amount of charges will be deducted from the paycheck following the pay period in which the charges are incurred.

5. Employees cannot charge more than can be deducted from their net earnings. If an employee charges more than his/her earnings will cover, the employee will be noti ed and “Badge Pay” privileges will be suspended. Continued violation of limits will result in loss of “Badge Pay” privileges.

6. Employees are responsible for monitoring their “Badge Pay” account and maintaining receipts. Receipts are required to substantiate any and all retail purchase discrepancies. No refund credits will be made to an account without a receipt. Discrepancies must be addressed within one pay period following the date that the purchase was made by presenting the receipt of the item to where it was purchased. Cash refunds will not be made for “Badge Pay” purchases.

7. Employees are responsible for the security of their badges. Lost or stolen identi cation badges should be reported immediately to the Human Resources Department by completing the Request to Discontinue “Badge Pay” Form. If the loss occurs after normal business hours, contact Security to have “Badge Pay” disabled and follow up as soon as possible with Human Resources to complete the form. The employee will be held responsible for all transactions up to the time the identi cation badge is reported lost or stolen. (There is a $10 replacement fee for lost identi cation badges.)

8. Abuse of “Badge Pay” privileges will lead to disciplinary action up to and including termination. See the Coaching and Corrective Action Policy.

9. To terminate participation in the “Badge Pay” program, participants must complete the Request to Discontinue “Badge Pay” Form and deliver to Human Resources. If this form is returned by the second Tuesday of the pay period, the account will be disabled by the beginning of the following pay period. If the form is returned after the second Tuesday of the current pay period, the change will be effective the next following pay period.

10. If an employee terminates or submits notice to terminate, “Badge Pay” will be disabled.

11. Renown Health reserves the right to change the “Badge Pay” process and requirements for participation in “Badge Pay” at any time and without advanced notice.

Dress and Appearance

Resources

It’s important to understand how to operate the equipment you will use in your everyday work. One of the largest resources for this equipment is information technology (IT). There are several items all employees will have access to:

Computer Log On and Application Information

• Log on information to systems provided to your leader by IT

Password Management You’ll receive several usernames and passwords depending on how many applications you access as part of your job. Some require an independent username and password while others can be accessed with your Single Sign On (SSO) credentials, which are the same as your Windows username and password. All employees have access to two main systems:

• Windows user accounts must meet the following complexity requirements:

1. Total length of at least seven characters

2. At least one uppercase letter (A-Z)

3. One lowercase letter (a-z)

4. One number (0-9)

5. Cannot be a previously used password or contain any personal information, such as your name

• Kronos password complexity requirements are similar to Windows, but also require a special character: [(!@#$%^&*)]

– Your initial password is provided in your welcome letter at orientation.

• Passwords must be changed every 90 days and the previous ve passwords are remembered.

Email

• Set up your email account by launching Microsoft Outlook.

• Microsoft Outlook is congured with your user account information to automatically setup at rst launch.

Telephone Voicemail There is standard telephone scripting all employees must use for telephone courtesy and voicemail

• Instructions can be found on: Inside Renown > Phone Directory > Telephone Instruction Manuals

Computer Personal Network Drive Employees can use their computer’s personal or home drive, the H drive (H:\ ). Your home or H drive is unique to each employee’s computer log on.

• DO NOT save any les/data on your C drive/desktop. Your PC is not backed up. Please store all les/data to your home or H drive, as this will be backed up nightly.

Wireless Renown Public Wireless (RenownPublicNet) is for the use of our visitors and not intended for employee use.

The organization designates parking areas to optimize the healthcare experience, reserving the most convenient parking for our guests. There are designated employee parking areas available at each Renown location. You registered your car as part of onboarding and will receive a Renown parking permit during New Employee Orientation.

Employees may apply for a parking permit that allows access to covered parking on the fourth and fth oors of the Mill Street Parking garage. The monthly fee for this pass is $30 per month payable via payroll deduction. These permits will be given as available. If you would like to purchase this additional pass, visit the Security department page on Inside Renown.

**Please note: Employees may park on the 6th oor of the Mill street parking garage only between the hours of noon and 8 a.m. and the 5th oor from 5 p.m. - 8 a.m.
