♦ Quilting, Wednesday, November 8, 1-5 pm. All are welcome to join us

for quilting blankets in the church basement.

♦ Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are available in the lobby and

can be dropped off at the church before Friday, November 17. The local drop

off depot is Meadow Brook Church, 219 Talbot Street East, Leamington, where

you can drop off your boxes by noon on November 18. You can also pack a

shoebox online by donating at samaritanspurse.ca. For more information,

contact Barb Fischer.

♦ NLUMC is going North! Youth and adults are invited to take part in a Learning and Service Tour July

2018. We will be travelling to Timmins, Ontario where we will be hosted by

MCC Ontario’s Indigenous Neighbours Program. We will be learning about

Indigenous culture and building a raised bed garden for a local health center.

Please mark your calendars for a brief meeting after church on Sunday,

December 3 to discuss more details. Contact Pastor Alicia for more

information.

♦ The Ministry Team needs to replenish our church's Benevolence

Fund. This Fund is used at the discretion of Ministry Team to address practical

needs within our church as they arise. We invite you to consider donating as

you feel God's leading to do so. Please mark your offering envelope

“Benevolence Fund.”

♦ Great Day of Singing. North Leamington United Mennonite Church

took part in the Great Day of Singing on October 22, 2017. The Hymn

Committee of 13 musicians from Canada and US, including Paul Dueck and

Anneli Loepp Thiessen, are asking for feedback and recommendations of songs

that we would like to see included in the New Hymnal. Link to

MennoMedia.org/Resonate to give your feedback and offer hymn suggestions.

♦ Meals on Wheels

We are looking for a volunteer to co-ordinate Meals on Wheels volunteers,

through the South Essex Community Council, for the month of January. Please

contact the church office, 519-326-7928, if you are interested. Thank you to

Rosemarie Tiessen who co-ordinated these volunteers in the past. Rosemarie

has now retired from that position.

♦ Missions Committee Update Thank you to the congregation for your generous outpouring of love. 422 pairs

of socks were donated for the Downtown Mission. God bless you for your

♦ Kindred Members Support NLUMC

Thanks to your investments in Kindred Credit Union’s Church Builder GICs

last year, NLUMC received a donation of $51.45. Since Church Builder GICs

were introduced in 1998, Kindred has donated over $600,000 in bonus interest

to churches and organizations in Ontario.

♦ Budget Update, December 1, 2016 – October 31, 2017

(91.7% of year) $235,128.20 (65.3%) of our $360,279 unified church budget

has been donated to date. Give prayerfully, joyfully and generously as God has

given to you.

♦ Donations to NLUMC Setting up an automatic transfer is a convenient way to make regular donations

to the church. If you would like to participate in this program, please contact

Susan at the church office to complete the necessary paperwork and provide a

void cheque. These donations will be processed on the 15th of each month.

♦ NLUMC depends on your help to thrive. We are looking for the following volunteer positions:

Longer term commitment positions:

- Church Treasurer

- 2 Sunday School teachers for the grade 4-6 class

- 2 sound and AV operators (we will train you!)

One-time commitment positions:

- Youth Mall Hunt helpers (adults or families who can come to Devonshire

Mall on Friday, November 24 from 7:15 to 8:30 pm while the youth search for

you. Do your Christmas shopping and build relationships with our church's

youth at the same time!)

♦ Leamington Mennonite Home News

Volunteer Drivers. We invite those who would be interested in driving our

seniors from the complex to medical appointments locally and possibly to

Windsor or Chatham. This is an important part of the Complex Services which

the Home offers to our elderly. Our Home has insurance coverage and drivers

♦ Leamington MEDA Chapter Board Volunteer Positions The Leamington MEDA Chapter (Mennonite Economic Development

Associates, a Christian faith based organization) is hoping to add several

additional volunteers to our Board membership. We are seeking individuals or

couples that have a passion for MEDA and can commit time and energy to the

work of this Chapter.

Successful volunteer(s) should be able to work with a diverse group of

church-related individuals from the Essex/Kent county areas, and relate to the

larger MEDA organization.

Your awareness of MEDA would be enhanced by attending the annual

convention and/or MEDA projects. Interest in the field of communications/

social media with general business awareness would be an asset. Leading in

Board executive positions such as chairperson, vice-chairperson, secretary or

treasurer would be possible as you became familiar with the Chapter operation.

♦ Employment Opportunities

Leamington Mennonite Home, Complex Housekeeping Services Worker.

A part-time (three days per week) cleaning and general housekeeping position

is available commencing December 7 due to a staff retirement. The position

includes cleaning the various common areas of the Home apartments, as well as

cleaning for complex residents. Good communication skills and physical fitness

or just hang out and do some Christmas shopping. This is a great

chance to build community between adults and youth in our church!
