All of our bespoke joinery is handmade in Edinburgh, we do not import our windows and we directly employ all of our manufacturing staff. This gives us complete control over the design and production process and allows us to create truly bespoke items. From the timber lengths being delivered, to the �nished product being installed in your home, we do it all. Full Sash ReplacementMany people are desperately in need of new windows, but want to retain their property's character and are concerned that completely replacing their beautiful sash windows will mean a modern, cheap imitation, but that is not the case with Eco Sash & Case. We are strong advocates of the importance of keeping your sash windows looking true to your property. You can rely on us to supply and install windows that will look perfect for your property. And because they are made, measured and installed by us, we make sure they �t perfectly as well.

We do not use substandard, quick or poorly cut joints. We only manufacture our joinery with high quality, traditional mortice and tenon joints. All of our complete replacement sash windows exceed the requirements of building control regulations and as we are certi�ed under an MTC scheme, we can provide building control certi�cation for all installations.

Sash Window ReplacementIn some cases that we see, the frame of a sash window is in good condition, it is just the sashes that may be slightly rotten. If this is the case then there is no reason to remove and replace the entire box frame as it just adds cost and disruption. This service involves �tting new, double glazed sashes into the existing box frame of your windows, giving you all of the bene�ts of double glazing and modern draught proo�ng, without the cost of replacing the whole frame. You also will not have to worry about damage to your walls, replastering or redecorating!

As all of our products are bespoke and manufactured by us, all aspects of your windows can be customised. Many companies have a "standard" sash window type and a "heritage" sash window type, but this is not always suitable as the windows in your property may not fall in to these standardised categories. We can offer a variety of options such as:

Heritage Slimline Double Glazing Units

In some instances, you may have a requirement for slim�t glass, or it may be a stipulation from your Local Authority. slim�t glass is a fantastic product which provides all of the bene�ts of double glazing while retaining the appearance of single glazing. As standard, a slim�t glass unit is made up of two 4mm sheets of glass either side of a 4mm spacer bar. This means that the entire unit is only 12mm thick and when a black spacer bar is used, it is very dif�cult to tell the difference between a single glazed pane.

We can install any type of glazing in your new sash or casement windows. Single, double glazed or glazing of your choice.

Acous�c Glass

There are various methods we can adopt to reduce the noise levels inside your property. If you live in a noisy area and your property is close to busy roads, then acoustic glass can make a signi�cant difference. Acoustic glass is two sheets of glass bonded together either side of a PVB membrane, which absorbs sounds and reflects it back to the source. This can be incorporated into a new window, as part of a double glazed unit. Alternatively, we can reglaze your existing window with acoustic glass.

Safety & Toughened Glass

Safety and security is a big concern when replacing windows and doors as these can be points of entry for potential burglars. All of our glass products conform to regulations on safety glass, but sometimes our customers want to go further to protect their homes. We can offer toughened (tempered) glass, laminated glass or Georgian wired glass in almost all applications for our clients. All of these options can also be used with obscure, slim�t or other types of glass.

Ÿ Speci�cally designed for slim pro�le double glazing, Edgetech’s warm edge Heritage Super Spacer offers the ultimate in thermal performance and eliminates any possibility of cold bridge produced by traditional aluminium spacer bars. Additionally the Heritage Super Spacer has a small upstand of only 3mm allowing us to offer an overall sightline of 7mm.

Ÿ Special low emissivity glass with the lowest ‘U’ values are available for the inner pane. The outer pane can be chosen from one of our many glass types including solar control and low iron and toughened safety glass.Available in black, silver or gold.

Whether you are looking for privacy in a bathroom or it is a condition of planning approval, obscure glass is the solution. There is a wide variety of options available. Our standard obscure glass is sandblasted which lets lots of light in while preventing anything being seen from outside. The paint �nish of your new windows is very important, not just for the look and how it �ts into your property, but it also impacts the longevity of your windows. The paint protects the timber and if it is not correctly applied or if the correct paint is not used, your investment in your windows will not last long. Another consideration is a paints impact on our environment. All paints we apply to windows are carefully chosen ensuring the highest quality �nish and maximum protection and that will have little impact on the environment.

Our painters are highly experienced and are regularly tested and trained to ensure that they are �nishing to the highest standard. We apply 4 coats of paint, one thin primer, one full primer an undercoat and �nally the high gloss topcoat. A further high gloss topcoat can be applied if required.

Our standard paint finish for new windows is Dulux Weathersheild Exterior Paint System, oil or water based. We have vigorously tested these paints over the years to ensure their suitability. For the interior we use Dulux Ecosure, or a paint brand of your choice, that provides an excellent tough durable finish. Available in ma�, sa�n or gloss. Both interior and exterior water based paints are low VOC and eco friendly paints.

peeling that will last many years maintenance-free

REDDIPLIE draughtproo�ng including 5.5mm, 8.5mm and 11.5mm Reddipile is recommended for use in most sash windows also Grade I and II listed buildings. Reddipile provides extra draught resistance.

WEATHERSEALS: This seal is ideal for sash and casement windows and it can be used on the top or bottom of sashes if required. It is UV stable and easy to clean and maintain. The Weatherseal is available in two heights: 10mm & 12mm.

Draught Proofing Choice

Sash windows have a small gap around the windows to allow the

sashes to slide past each other and operate smoothly. It is this gap

that causes some problems associated with sash windows, such as

draughts, rattles, dust ingress and reduced energy ef�ciency. By

installing we can draught-proof your sash REDDIPILE or WEATHERSEALS

windows and eliminate these problems without effecting operation or

looks.

Draught proo�ng your windows involves routing out a groove during

the window construction on the mid and bottom rail of the lower

window, A pile carrier is then inserted into the groove followed by

the choice of Reddipile or Weatherseal into the carrier. New baton

rods and parting beads are �tted with pre-�tted Reddiplie.

We can also carry out draught proo�ng on front and back doors, to

ensure your home stays warmer through the winter. These areas are

prone to heat loss, especially in older buildings.

We use two types of draught proo�ng systems for new windows. REDDIPILE and WEATHERSEALS both come in varying sizes & shades. Both systems produce excellent draught proo�ng results.

All of our new windows includes a full ironmongery package to ensure your windows open, and more importantly, lock correctly. We also offer a huge range of alternative ironmongery options available to give that �nishing touch to your beautiful new windows. From bespoke luxury forged Brighton sash locks manufactured by Kensington of London, to stunning casement window ironmongery forged by Norton Casement, we have it all in our ironmongery choice.

We can offer ironmongery in polished brass, polished chrome and satin chrome as standard but we can have ironmongery made bespoke for you in many different �nishes, so there is something for everyone! Our ironmongery comes in a huge array of security options, which is a concern for us all. Windows can be vulnerable, from people trying to get in or children trying to get out.

The Easy Clean System, sometimes referred to as the Simplex System, is a very simple way of allowing access to the outside of your sash windows, where the �ttings allow you to open the bottom sash like a door, allowing for straightforward maintenance and cleaning. It is the original way for sash and case windows to be opened for cleaning and maintenance.
