It is with great joy that I write these lines to you, we have been a month without seeing each other and the absent is being felt. This global virus is affecting all of us in many different ways, however, the message of this Easter season needs to be proclaimed more than ever: Christ is Risen! The event of Christ destroying death is not only a personal victory, but is a victory that he has done for us. We are invited to make an experience of the resurrection; in some way this situation of Covid-19 is frightening us and Christ comes to remind us that He has destroyed death, which is our biggest enemy. Obviously, we need to be smart and take the necessary precaution, but at the end of the day we need to put our trust in the Lord who loves us and has total control of our lives. This Sunday we are celebrating Divine Mercy; what a great message for us to hear. The message of Divine Mercy is a message of hope, is an invitation not to despair when we are experiencing physical or spiritual desolation. Mercy is the second name of God (St. John Paul II). Let us put our trust in God, that in the midst of all that is happening around us we may have the faith and certainty that God will not abandon us.

Personally, this time has been a time in which God has been challenging me and inviting me to get out of my safe zone and begin ministering in a new way. Since this Covid-19 started and many priests started going online in order to reach their people, I hesitated in going that route, first because I’m not technological savvy, and second because I don't like being recorded or posting things in the internet. However, it has being a month and I see that people are to be connected with their pastor, to hear a word from him in this difficult time. Also, this situation is going to continue for a while, therefore I decided that I have to be more proactive and doing things that people may be able to participate physically or online. We have a new website: stbernardineparish.com in which we will be placing all of the activities that I will be doing and other news regarding our parish. This does not mean that I have not being doing anything in this past month.

I have been visiting several families that are in distress and bringing them the Word of God and the possibility to confess. I have also been varnishing all the pews of the church and painting some of the rooms in the Siena Hall. Hopefully when we return, we will have a nice looking church welcoming us.

Finally, let us keep in our prayer those that are dying due to the Covid-19 and cannot be visited by anyone, not even a priest. As far as I know no one has die from our parish, however we have at least 3 people that have tested positive of the virus, let us also pray for them and their families.

Because of the recent lockdown, many of us have been using the internet in order to follow the mass and partake of different devotional practices. As a result, we have a new website: stbernardineparish.com In this webpage you will find some of the things that will be taking place in St.Bernardine, you will find the bulletin and you can also give your weekly donation.

If there is anyone in need of food, our pantry is still open on Tuesday, please call the parish rectory on Monday to schedule a time to come.

Con gran alegría les escribo estas líneas, llevamos un mes sin vernos y se siente la ausencia. Este virus global nos está afectando a todos de muchas maneras diferentes, sin embargo, el mensaje de esta temporada de Pascua debe proclamarse más que nunca: ¡Cristo ha resucitado! El hecho de que Cristo destruya la muerte no es solo una victoria personal, sino que es una victoria que ha hecho por nosotros. Estamos invitados a hacer una experiencia de la resurrección; de alguna manera, esta situación de Covid-19 nos asusta y Cristo viene a recordarnos que ha destruido la muerte, que es nuestro mayor enemigo. Obviamente, debemos ser inteligentes y tomar las precauciones necesarias, pero al final del día debemos confiar en el Señor que nos ama y tiene el control total de nuestras vidas.

Este domingo celebramos la Divina Misericordia; Qué gran mensaje para nosotros escuchar. El mensaje de la Divina Misericordia es un mensaje de esperanza, es una invitación a no desesperarnos cuando estamos experimentando una desolación física o espiritual. La misericordia es el segundo nombre de Dios (San Juan Pablo II). Pongamos nuestra confianza en Dios, para que en medio de todo lo que sucede a nuestro alrededor podamos tener la fe y la certeza de que Dios no nos abandonará.

Personalmente, este es un tiempo en el que Dios me ha estado desafiando e invitándome a salir de mi zona segura y comenzar a ministrar de una manera nueva. Desde que comenzó este Covid-19 muchos sacerdotes comenzaron a conectarse por el internet para llegar a su gente, dudé en seguir esa ruta, primero porque no soy experto en tecnología, y segundo porque no me gusta grabar nada o publicar cosas en el Internet. Sin embargo, ha pasado un mes y veo que las personas deben estar conectadas con su

pastor, para escuchar una palabra de él en este momento difícil. Además, esta situación continuará por un tiempo, por lo tanto, decidí que tengo que ser más proactivo y hacer cosas para que las personas puedan participar físicamente o por el internet. Tenemos una nueva pagina de web: stbernardineparish.com en el que colocaremos todas las actividades que haré y otras noticias relacionadas con nuestra parroquia. Esto no significa que no haya estado haciendo nada en el último mes.He estado visitando a varias familias que están angustiadas y les traigo la Palabra de Dios y la posibilidad de confesarse. También he estado barnizando todos los bancos de la iglesia y pintando algunas de las habitaciones del Siena Hall. Esperemos que cuando regresemos, tengamos una iglesia bonita que nos reciba.

Finalmente, mantengamos en nuestra oración a aquellos que están muriendo debido al Covid-19 y no pueden ser visitados por nadie, ni siquiera un sacerdote. Hasta donde sé, nadie ha muerto en nuestra parroquia, sin embargo, tenemos al menos 3 personas que han dado positivo en el virus, oremos también por ellos y sus familias.

Despensa de Alimentos

Si hay alguien que necesite comida, nuestra despensa todavía está abierta los martes, por favor llame a la offiicina parroquial el lunes para programar una hora para venir.

Pensamiento de la Semana

“El sufrimiento es el tesoro más grande que hay en la tierra, purifica al alma. En el sufrimiento conocemos quién es nuestro verdadero amigo. El amor verdadero se mide con el termómetro del sufrimiento” (Diario 342). “Desde el momento en que empecé a amar el sufrimiento, este mismo dejó de ser sufrimiento para mí. El sufrimiento es el alimento continuo de mi alma” (Diario : Santa Faustina #276).

Donaciones

Quiero agradecer especialmente a todos ustedes que han seguido apoyándonos financieramente durante estos días. Como saben, tenemos un mes con la iglesia cerrada y las

facturas normales que siguen llegando. Algunos de ustedes han pasado por la iglesia y han entregado sus sobres

personalmente, otros lo han dejado en el buzón y otros lo han enviado por correo. Gracias por su generosidad.
